With the latest mass shooting in Connecticut, what are your opinions on the matter of gun control, including promoted legislation from the UN banning certain types of firearms?

Deranged murderers do not follow the law anyway, what good will more gun laws be? It will only take guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens. A determined lunatic bent on death and mayhem will achieve that goal regardless of gun laws. Look at Tim McVeigh, killed 168 people, including many children and never fired the first shot.

Up to the moment before the Sandy Hook Elementary School began murdering 26 human beings, he was, for all intents and purposes, a "law abiding citizen." He was able to carry out his heinous act precisely because he had access to guns that were purchased legally by his mother.

Well, Advisor, I'd probably have access to all of your shit too if I shot you in the face 3 times. Anybody that is determined enough to do something, even if it's something as sick as taking out 20+ schoolkids, is going to find a way to get it done. Do you remember when Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman got their throats slashed by that gun OJ was carrying? Yeah me either.

I suggest you check into a medical clinic and have your chromosomes counted. There may be a deficiency. You do realize that you need to evolve.

I agree with HMMMMM, if someone is going to go all ape s*T and kill a bunch of innocent kids, they are going to find a way to get the guns weather they are legal or not. We need to ask ourselves as a society what the eff is wrong with us that these types of shootings are taking place. I know there has always been violence and there always will be but the violence seems to be escalating. That is a society problem, its something that goes deeper than the issue of gun control.

If someone wishes to kill a large number of people at one time, banning or more restrictive gun laws won't stop them. I could give you six easy ways, without guns, to do it but there is no way in hell that I'm going to post it so some nut can pick up on the idea. I'm no genius so if I can think of 6 ways to do, then thousands of others can too and probably a lot more than 6. There are thousands of soft targets and you can't protect them all.

They don't ban cars because of drunk driving deaths. They don't ban water because of drownings.
I have yet to see a gun that can load itself, drive itself to a location and then shoot people. Could the problem possibly be crazy people rather than guns? Let's do something about the crazies and quit blaming a piece of metal.

And if he had used a car and run them down instead would we start talking about banning cars? It is impossible to stop a psychopath who is determined to kill. Tim M killed 168 and never fired a shot. Did we ban U-Haul rentals because that is what he used? Banning guns will not stop these deranged lunatics. Getting these people better mental help would.

Great now Manchin is joining the ban guns bandwagon, I am very surprised at him. I never thought he would go along with something like that. Banning guns after something like this gives us that "feel good" sense but doesnt really accomplish the goal of stopping these weirdos.

That is why they need to overcome their fear of fighting by learning how to fight so they can protect themselves.

Banning guns will only make things worse.Banning guns will only make people for lack of better words more vulnerable fish in the barrel than they already are. The criminals would have nothing to worry about if this happened. Criminals could care less about the law. Afterall, that is why they are criminals in the first place. If they want to commit a crime, they are going to regardless. Violent crime is not going to decrease until parents start being parents and cut out violent video games and movies and our economy improves. Which apparently is not going to happen for at leat four more years since mob rule (Unknowledgable Mothers Of America and those who are dependent on the government cash cow, check the voter statistics) re-elected President Barrack Obama, Former Smooth Talking Civil Right Attorney.

Considering how well criminals and crazies follow the law I think we should indeed ban guns. And while we're at it, let's ban drunk driving and assult with deadly weapons. AND I'd like to also ban meth and all those other nasty addictive drugs. Everything will be fine once all these things are banned/illegal.

There are already laws and regulations in place against All these things genius. The government can't enforce the laws and regulations that are already on the books. The mother should have made sure her son couldn't get her guns and the school should have had better security with a cop in them. This shooting could have been stopped twice.

Is it me you're writing to? Because if so, I KNOW there are already laws and regulations against these things. I was being sarcastic. Meaning that banning guns would be like all those other things being against the law in that it would be just as useless to ban guns, genius!

There is already a gun ban in place. Have you ever purchased one? You have to pass a FBI background check. Guns are banned from those who don't pass it.

I know this as well. Sigh. I have purchased many guns. This is NOT the type of bans they're wanting to pass. They want to, eventually, make it illegal for private citizens to own guns of any kind. Rather like what has happened in the UK. Read about their gun laws and you'll see an example of what those in power would like to see here.

Don't be surprised. He won his re-election bid and now he has time to buddy up to the ones in Washington. Then about a year before his next election he can begin to act like a good ole boy again, the voters will say "look he's one of us" and vote him in again and the cycle will go on and on as long as he chooses to run.

Well I am extremely disappointed in his stance supporting certain gun bans, but I would still vote for him over Raese. LOL
