I personally dont think people should get extra stamps this time. The summer was one thing, but people should have set their food outside this time, it was plenty cold enough to preserve it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they get their checks on the 1st? And the storm hit, what, the 29th? So we're just going to double up on them for losing 1 or 2 days worth of food? My 80 year old grandmother, who lives by herself, had enough sense to put her food out in the snow. SMFH.

I am a constant defender of the poor, but this is an example of why people get so upset about this issue. It was the end of the month and if people cant take enough personal responsibility to even set their food outside so it wont spoil they dont deserve to eat. They should not be giving double in this instance. Just my opinion.

What about all of the people who actually worked to buy their food that was ruined due to the power outages? We are the people who should be receiving assistance. I'm glad the people who actually deserve the benefits got extra to buy more food, but most of them don't deserve the assistance. Truth is, most are lazy, druggies. It makes me sick to think about it.

I work and i get foodstamps. why do u people think working people dont get stamps, they do. we just dont make the dollar amount u do an hour. it goes by your income, how much u make, and how many is in your household. SO YES SOME PEOPLE GETTING STAMPS DO WORK!!

If you're actually working and can't make it, that's fine, I have absolutely no problem with my tax dollars going to someone who is actually trying. It's the deadbeats that game the system and refuse to work that piss me off.

If you work, then I'm not referring to you. I realize that some people who get foodstamps and other assistance do work, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I guess i'm a bit jaded because every person that I know that gets assistance does not work. It's the ones who take advantage of the system who make those who really need help look bad.

I don't get food stamps. Never have and hope I never have to. I put my food outside during the storm only to find an hour later. The neighbors dog was eating my food!!!
The dog didn't eat all of it. And I don't know about everybody else but I'm not eating after a dog. I threw it over the hill and let them have at it.. thank god for canned food.
