I need some opinions from people in my area. My husband and I have a business and we are wanting to open a second. We already have the property for it which will be located in Mount Nebo. This area needs a nice gym facility and somewhere kids can go. It will be a gym open to members 24/7 and We will have it open on certain days/nights for inflatable jump place and to host birthday parties for kids but the main thing I want is to run a gymnastics/dance/cheer gym. My daughter is 2 and I want her to take gymnastics and dance but Summersville area offers nothing and I don't want to drive to Charleston to do this. What do you guys think? Honest answers please. Boom or bust? We need something for the kids.

And I should have mentioned that I took dance for 9 years and cheered all through my childhood until Highschool. I want to coach but would also need several other certified instructors.

We were sad when our daughter's gymnastics class ended. You would have interested people as long as you run a good, affordable business.

Please consider this if you love dance and children. My daughter has took dance since she was 4. First at Barbie Yurick's-Oak Hill but she only teaches basics and she is grouchy even with the little kids. She then took for Karen Fama -Beckley who is wonderful but very old and that is a long drive and it is mandatory you do two days a week.We tried Ms. Amelia while we were still with Mrs.Fama. My daughter loved her and loved the summersville girls she went with.(We live at Fayetteville and in the whole school theres only one other girl we know that takes dance.) After about three months I felt that Amelia wasn't responisble. She was going to leave my daughter at the studio alone when she had quit practice 45 minutes early. After a number of other things that I thought were odd we just stayed with Mrs.Fama. In August our season ended and we didn't start the fall cession. I have an infant and it is just too hard right now to drive that far. But Mt. Nebo would be much closer and I think if you advertised you would get girls from Fayette County, too

The area probably needs one, but weren't there two in town just a few years ago?

If you go through with your idea and it takes off, just be aware that someone else might open one up as well.

If the market isn't large enough for the both of you (and it probably isn't), you'll just end up undercutting each other and creating a race to the bottom. Just sayin'.

Best of luck.

I think it sounds like a great idea. I also think you might get more feedback if you'd maybe start a facebook page and get the word out that way.

I think it's a wonderful idea. I am new to the area and have a 4yr old that would love to take dance. I myself took dance for 15 yrs including ballet tap jazz and twirling. I've always dreamed of getting involved In a studio. So if its a go and you need xterra hands sounds great. Kids need something like that available to keep them busy and active. I also believe you would get business from fayette county as well. Oak hill and Smithers are the only dance studios I know of in the nearby area.

GREAT IDEA!!!! I wouldn't limit classes to only kids. Adults would be very interested in dance classes as well. I have searched for adult dance classes in surrounding counties and I couldn't find any. There is a boom in the fitness industry for dance related work outs. A 24/7 gym would be a plus as well. Some folks have hetic and unusual schedules; being able to attend a gym at any time would be a huge help. Also, those who are just starting a fitness routine may feel better going at an hour when less people are there. I say advertise and market well which will lead to a sucessful business. Best of luck!
