I would like to begin by saying how tragic this situation is. I was there the day it happened and as a parent, I cannot begin to imagine the what his parents are going through right now. I cried when it happened and I have tears in my eyes right now thinking about it. I do however have a diffent feeling about the situation than many of you seem to have. First of all, there are hundreds of people out there swimming in the Blue Hole swimming area on a Saturday, and I don't think they could have enough life guards to watch every single person. When something this horrible happens, I think people tend to want to find someone to blame, and everyone seems to be pointing their fingers at these lifeguards. The question I have is why was it 45 minutes after the little boy had gone missing, before the people that he was with, suddenly remembered that he had gone down the water slide and never came back up? I just can't help but to wonder why they weren't watching him better. As a parent, I would NEVER just assume that someone is protecting my child. Lifeguard or not. Anytime I have taken my kids, neices, or friend's kids, down there to swim, I have always kept my eyes glued on them. I think there is needlessly negative attenion being put on the park, when this could have happened anywhere. I personally know a few people that have worked at Turner Falls as lifeguards and have saved people, but of course that doesn't make the headlines. Just my thoughts.
.

He was my baby cousin such a kind hearted young boy who his favorite hobbit was to go swimming favorite thing to do. So sad that he was taken from us at such a young age ;(( I had seen him a few days before he was gone he came to visit me at the hospital after giving birth to my twin daughters :/

Oh my god. This place is over ran by the mexicans. They placed their tent in front of our tents front door and threw our chairs out of the way to set up camp.We asked them to move, but they said we still had room to climb in. The police said they could make them move. Really all for them to slit our throats in our sleep. No thanks. They just climbed right over us into our camping spot and laughed the whole time. They knew this would run us off. We were the only white family on the hill. So Turner Falls has become little Mexico. They have trashed this place just like their country. Shit every where no regard to personal space, or respect for others around you. Davis police suck, they can't even control what goes on there. Well never return. This place is probably owned by the Mexican cartel. Just saying as i see it.

Sad story but this place it's over price n for wat to pay the lifeguards .. lifeguards that are too busy being on their phones n listening to obscene music n repeating all the nasty words. I had a little incident and some regular guys had to jump in to help. The lifeguards didn't even care.

Boys, try keep your heads up. There will always be those in life that will beat you when your down and then beat you down some more. If the tables were turned at it was THEIR son that was a lifeguard that day and they saw the pain their son went through along with the nightmares and tears, they wouldn't be spouting off about something they know NOTHING about. It is IMPOSSIBLE to watch every single person in a pool of 400 people. Get freaking real people! Hmmmmm, let me see. From what I have gathered...each of you boys SAVED probably on average of 20 swimmers EACH that summer. So out of approximately 100 saves, you had one tragedy that you will never, ever forget. I STILL say...GOOD JOB BOYS!
They should not allow that many people in the area if they don't have enough help to keep it safe
