I saw these guys working on the campus..They are highly watched and don't get away from the guy who watches him! They don;t talk to any of the students!!!! I don't understand why Sulphur can't just stop while they are ahead... My question.. Are any of you parents who are upset gonna get up and do all the work they are doing???? DIDN'T THINK SOO!!!!!! I know if there are problems, those inmates will not be there.. If anything it teaches lessons!!!

The inmates at the school do not try to talk to the students they stay with there supervisor and dont try to run. They dont have sexual crimes against them;therefor, there is nothing to worry about. Most of these inmates have had charges of either durgs or some type of other charge. So if you parents want the school to get rid of the inmates you need to get off your lazy asses and do the work that they are doing for the school. If it wasnt for them your children would being going to a run down building.

Instead of calling the news stations and starting petitions, why don't these parents volunteer their free time to working at the schools?

I think that someone just wanted some attention, so why not call a news station up. All I can say is, it's a small town and this all will come around and bite you on the butt.

I'm all for saving the school district money HOWEVER are you kidding me?? Let these guys work at the court house or at other government office NOT around children.

I'm all for community service and the inmates giving their time and helping in the budget crunch but, could they not possibly come after school hours. Its a matter of concern for my child and other children. And not all parents can help with the school programs due to the fact that they work to support their families but it doesn't mean they aren't still concerned for their children.

Hmm...one deputy supervising 6 inmates... what happens if all 6 gang up on deputy? Saving $$ is not worth compromising safety... those inmates chose what they did and deserve to be locked up, not working on school grounds under children. for all i care, they could be there on drug charges... how about that for the kids? Nice role models? Pathetic

As a former worker in a State Correctional Facility, not ust any inmate is approved for a furloughed work program. These inmates are not child molesterers, child abusers, murderers, etc. They are guys who made bad choices. What IF one of these inmates were your son?? Would you NOT want him to have an opportunity to try and improve himself?
Providing that the inmates are supervised and not permitted to have contact with the children, and there are no complaints from the children, then the parents need to view this as "community service" and nothing more.
IF you are a good parent, you will have a strong enough relationship with your child that you can sit down and talk with him/her about the inmates and your concerns and then speak with them again daily to ensure that they are not having contact with the inmates or that the inmates are not trying to come into contact with them for any reason. SHOULD something occur, then you have a reason to take it to the School Board, the Prison Warden or KFOR. Until then...why cause such a stink??

Since this parent is so concerned, this parent needs to step up to the plate and volunteer their time to do the work the inmates are doing. Our school would not look near as nice or have some of things we have if not for the work these guys have done. It's time for the media to quit stepping in everytime 1 person has a concern and make the concerned individual go to the school board instead.

If people only knew how much work there is to do at the school. No one understands how much upkeep there is for just a few people to do. I dont see parents down at the school volunteering to pick up trash after games or set up for special events . It takes a lot of manpower to do this. These guys have made bad choices and trying to better. What you dont know is how much this has helped the school and these guys. Some have got out of jail and moved on with there lives and became something because someone cared enough to help them. Some just needed guidence and all these guys respect the deputyand all of the school personnel.

Why as parents to we wait for something to happen to an innocent child before contacting someone? That is just insane dear.

it's about time inmates are made to work why should my tax dollars go to feed and cloth them for free? As far as being at the school good for the school if the state keeps cutting the budget then let them save money this way. If a parent wants to complain then they need to get out and do what those inmates are doing so they're children can have all of the neat things the school can buy with the money they have saved. But someone always has to complain

Have you bothered to ask WHY these people are in jail? It could be for non-child support payment because their out of work or because the other parent was money hungry.(I have a friend that the court ordered $1000 a month and he didn't think she needed that much, only paid $800 and did jail time because of it)

OMG! YES! They don't need to around the children! OH MY! Whatever!

I agree with everyone saying...If you gonna say something, then step up to the plate! I have people on our board that is QUICK to say how it is but when it comes time to play ball, their in the bleachers. Everyone that is complaining, how about this...YOU go after work and clean up the school! YOU clean up after games. YOU go and clean toilets, mow the grass, trim trees...Or would you brake a nail?

..you, a mere (wo)man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things... Romans 2:3

Can you cast it?

I agree with this 100%!! thank you for writing this!!! the only problem is.. none of the ones complainin will get up and do a thing.. they dont care at all.. and i know from first hand.. they need to grow up in my opinion and i know im younger than all of them... But thank you for agreeing with the people that say that..:) All the people care about is getting Sulphur on the news.. and thats all it has been for the past year.. its time to move on, and grow up some!! And why create a ruckus if no child is truly in any type of danger??

Is it just being in an orange jumpsuit make you all nervous? What about the people behind the counter at the grocery store...or the men carrying out your bags...or the individuals preparing your food...do you think none of these people are former inmates who are just trying to clean up their lives? Just because someone isn't wearing orange - doesn't mean they don't have a past!

This is just insane, county inmates have been working around the public school not only in sulphur but davis as well for many years now. They are under strict supervision. This has been blown way out the waters. This lady has obviously just needed some kind of attention. This had to be an insult on the superviser for these inmates. He is a former sulphur graduate himself an knows many locals. He is highly respected an would never let any child be in harms way because of one of his inmates. An on top of that they don't just use any of these county inmates thier backgrounds are viewed before they are released around these children!! An they are called "trustee" for a reason. My personal opinion is the woman who are concerned with this an making it an issue should be punished, not only for blowing this up an going to the news for it which is rediculous, but there are several pictures of the County inmates posted on local's facebook an myspace pages. This should be against the law.To me it is almost an act of harassment or stalking for that matter, to drive around them day after day, an shoot video an photos of these men. Get a life, right? haha kinda lame an this is grown woman acting out in this behavior. Without authorized permission an a sign consent from a local police or supervisor for the inmates pictures to be released for media like that to someone that has no authority or right at all should totally be in some kind of trouble for these actions. And hopefully something should be done. Also Hope it is further investigated on the inmates behalf, why now? after years of working at the public school, why does the complaints just now begin. There are specific reasons behind this womans actions an the others who have posted things about these men? Very interested to see how this will turn out.
