yes you can! Its is really a quiet place for the most part. Every body is very freindly. Holiday weekends are busy but most weekends it is real quiet. Most of the smaller lakes there is hardly anyone there. We stay on our lot and no one bothers us. For the money you cant beat it!! I was leary too but Im glad i bought

Dear Scared, We have been at WL for three years and have found that the majority of the people that are painting the ugly picture of the place are people who live there full time. I do not know if they are trying to keep weekenders out or if they are just as low class as they come across in their postings. We go down about once a month, love our property, have access to pretty good fishing and have never even seen or talked to one of those "evil" trustees that keep getting all of the negative press on this site. There is no reason that anyone has to get involved in the politics if they choose not to. We mind our own business but have made friends with all of our immediate neighbors. The biggest theft that we have had is firewood, which is disappointing but not the end of the world. Please give it a chance, we need people who enjoy nature more than petty bickering.

Let me begin by stating I do not know the Campbell's and have no horse in this race other than wishing to see Woodland prosper and not become completely bankrupt.
Now the trustees are trying to keep prevent vehicular access to the Campbell's, I cannot see any legal justification Woodland has to do this and are going to cause yet another lawsuit.
Although these trustees may not like their 'dirty laundry' finally being brought to the public's attention, violating numerous laws and costing US god knows how much in legal fees
is ridiculous.
The information age has been booming for many years now, it's just taken a little longer to affect Woodland. It's no longer whispers about legal violations, corruption, etc by the trusteeship only heard around the campfire, but it's becoming a constant noise in the trustees ears that ISN'T going away.
Complain about anonymity all you want, but the fact is that the majority of us would rather remain anonymous for fear of reprisals from the trustees and their jack booted cheer leading squad.
Theft, damage, threats from trustees both personally and from the offices of woodland have been, and are now still REAL expectations for getting in the trustees way.
The trustees, and WL employees have become 'Tammany Hall', corrupt, dishonest, untrustworthy and completely out of control. Their power trip is going to destroy woodland.
They ALL need to resign before they bankrupt us in bogus legal fees and damages.
They've made this attack against the Campbell's and others, personal.
In no way are they representing Woodland's best interests any longer.
RESIGN NOW, you are no longer viable and have become a cancer on OUR development!

I dont know anything about Wooland Lakes other than reading nearly half of the topics on this here website. I have known the Campbell's for many years and are good friends of mine and I can honestly say that they are good people. And the way they have been treated here these past few weeks is sickening. leagally they should have been informed of any back taxes, fees of any kind before signing of the sale of any property, And havning read many comments and others were treated just as badly, rude and very unprofessional.
Owners of properties on Woodland Lake need to stand up against the trustees. You have rights as owners. Stand behind the Campbell's, their not just fighting for them selfs, but so no one else will have to go through it.

Thank you, 13wildhorses!-)
Woodland Lakes is such a beautiful, can-be-peaceful place with SO much potential.
There is a trustee that lives there who is on the Board that has corrupted the whole place. For some reason, people seem to be scared of him. He gets right in people's faces & screams at them. I guess that's his intimidation ploy.
When we first visited this place, it was in 2008 and it was because we sold a shed to a property owner there, so we drove out there to look at their job site to make sure we could get the shed in (there's not much level ground there). We went back the next day & purchased a "building" lot for the price of the back taxes. Then, we didn't realize the differences in "building" "multipurpose" & "camping" lots. The lot we bought was key for us because it was close to the front gate & next door to a competing seller of portable buildings. We learned quickly that we'd never be able to leave anything on a "building" lot until we spent big bucks on a septic system. So putting building displays there would be out of the question. So we deeded the lot into the name of our business, " ShedSpot.com " & had a for sale sign made with our business logo on it. All legal since they allow many, many people to have for sale signs in there. Immediately began a battle. They had the gatekeeper give us a letter saying we'd be banned and charged a daily fee if we didn't remove our sign immediately.
See, the Board of Trustees are tightly woven with Miller's store, which sells Dierksen Portable Buildings. One day when we were in the office arguing with them, Frank "Tinker" Darian was in there. He's the corrupt trustee I referred to. This person literally spit in my face while yelling at me. So offensive. We filed a complaint with the Secretary of State, using the Sunshine Law to request their records, to include a copy of their surveillance video to prove this (... I'll let you fill in this blank because my words for him aren't good) spit in my face. We were told, "it's a private place so we can't help you & they're exempt from the Sunshine Law." So... we backed down, removed our sign & sold the now-cleared "building" lot for about what we'd paid for it. However, we did replace the "For Sale" sign with another sign that said " WoodlandLakesNews.com ," which the new owner (an investment company) never removed. We took it down last month because it began looking gray & ugly.
A key discrimination factor is the "Building" lot down from our old lot that prominently advertises "Bourbon RV." The trustees will tell people the trustees changed the Bourbon RV lot to a commercial lot by arbitrarily typing up a letter and taping it to the back of that lot's plat map, which is not a legal action to convert property. This procedure requires a vote from every property owner in that section before receiving final authority from the Court.
And that's how things are done at Woodland Lakes. We should've gone with our gut instinct when we first heard of Woodland Lakes in 2005, which was "if one can get property so cheap, why would anyone want it?" We've reverted back to that way of thinking again.

Correction...I made a misstatement in my previous post, so this is a retraction. I said Frank "Tinker" Darian has corrupted the whole place when indeed he has not. There are many, many, many great people @ Woodland. What Frank has corrupted is the operations of Woodland.

I'm a 58 yr old man with 2 heart attacks and 1 stroke. 1 heart attack was brought on by stress at WL when we tried to put electric on our property and it cost $8000.00 do to the people out there not knowing what they where doing. That was confrimed by the local electric company out there I just don't have it in me to build now.
Did the electric company confirm to you (them not a trustee) that it would cost you that much? That seems awfully excessive for electric. Ours cost around $1,000.00 and our pole was placed quite a distance from the road. We wonder about the truthfulness of what you were told because Frank "Tinker" Darian told us we could not get 200 amp light service, per Crawford County Electric. Because that is preposterous (we have two joined muli-purpose lots & had plans to build a house later) we called a friend who is an engineer with Crawford County Electric. As we suspected, "Tinker" flat-out lied to us. After being confronted by us as to what our friend & friend's supervisor said, "Tinker" conceded & we got 200 amp hookup.

Always keep in mind that if it comes from the mouth of "Tinker" it should be followed up by verification. Good luck to you in your health and dreams. We hope you don't give up or in.

Correction:* multi-purpose * Not muli-purpose.

& FYI, Kevin Thompson and his good buddy & good guy Steve installed our electric. They are our recommendation to do work at WL.

As for Frank Darian, we were told by customers that hired him that he took gravel from WL, brought it to their lake lot & charged them for it. In other words, "Tinker" used WL materials to perform a job he was personally hired to do.

Those of you who say the trustees are doing a great job & not being paid a thing for it really should reevaluate the situation. It is their positions as trustees that get them their jobs. They list their names on the contractor's list. They advertise their businesses @ Miller's Store. & because of their positions they have access to WL materials, which it is rumored they are stealing for profit. How is that not getting paid to be a trustee?

As soon as we got our permit for electric, Russ Richards did head right to our property soliciting the job of installing our electric.

No matter what any of the disillusioned folks care to believe, it is wrong that these trustees are using their positions to solicit business. & they've got the gall to harass others who are trying to earn a living. The hypocrisy is astounding & it's the disillusioned folks who are enabling them, which I feel makes you folks an accessory to their crimes. Wake up party people & realize things aren't all about you and your festivities.
There is a serious problem with the management of WL whether you care to lift your heads from the sand or not.

Someone mentioned that those who complain would never run for trustee & that person is wrong. My husband (Dave Campbell) is the first name listed on the trustee sign-up sheet, which could be the reason we are currently banned from WL & our home, where we DID live until last night.

Do WL a favor disillusioned folks & remove your blinders before you lose your paradise too. Or, perhaps that is the reason y'all are sucking up to the trusteeship; so you won't lose your property. Now, isn't that a pathetic way to be!'-/

I've spoke to a friend that is a lawyer and am looking into filing a class action type suit against the trusteeship for breach of contract for multiple violations of the indenture.
It's the only way we're going to stop the trusteeships corruption and take woodland back.
We're fed up too with the violations by the trustees of WL. If you aren't already a friend of our WL News Facebook, please go to WoodlandLakesNews.com and join. We need to talk because we are in the preliminary stages of a lawsuit against WL for violating our constitutional rights and depriving us of our property.

A lawsuit WILL work & we are getting one together. If anyone is interested in joining a class action, please join our FB @ WoodlandLakesNews.com . It's time the one's acting under the "Color of Law" realize they're not exempt from the law. Let's clean up WL & make it the fun, peaceful place it should be for EVERYONE, not just the trustee enablers.

There are two ways to deal with thse problems. Blame WL for not taking care of our properties, or take matters into our own hands.
1. Keep "Posted" signs on your property.
2. Lock-up what you want to keep.
3. If you have electric, you csn get a security camera system inexpensively and install it nearby or in your camper/cabin.
4. Meet your neighbors and watch out for each other's belongings.
5. When down at your property, keep your eyes open for suspicious activity or indviduals and report it to the gate. They will call the Trustee's and Sheriff's Dept.(I have seen tis first hand, I did it)
I have signs posted on my property and a night vision security camera mounted nearby. If I catch someone vandalizing or stealing from my property while I am there, they will meet my two friends, Sig and Sauer (That will be their last meeting of anyone). If I get them on camera, they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
We can take back what could be a great place but by just complaining and blaming, we will get no farther than we are. Let's all work together to stop the losers from their reign and enjoy ourselves at the property we own.
The "Watch Patrol" should be re-instated with authority to take action against this element and run their asses out!
Amen! Cameras are a cheap investment anymore. Rumor has it, it was the trustees who fought the property owners from having a neighborhood watch.??? Everyone should get cameras on their properties. Then, these rumors could be put to rest & the thieves WILL finally be exposed & punished. ;-)

How many Woodland owners continue to choose to remain silent or anonymous due to fear of reprisals by this corrupt board of trustees and their cronies?
Vandalism, theft, and now apparently even illegal banishment are real expectations for speaking out, interfering or going public against this board.
