To help u out brett, skip lettered in 88 for sullivan football. I was i few yrs ahead of that team but i do know he lettered and there was alot of talent on that team, also will go on to say he has helped with youth football and other youth sports and can not remember a brett ever lettering or being involved in youth football so if brett isnt your name i would love to know what it is and maybe we can get u involved in helping out somewhere with youth sports.

If you can't support your team (coaches & players)thru the tough times then go find somewhere else to complain. These kids are trying their hardest - why do you all put so much pressure on them?? Remember the football coaches spend more quality time with them than you do as parents... perhaps some support instead of criticism may help?

Look, it is plain and simple. NO ONE in this town is committed to giving 100% because that takes work! Our coaches only know so much. If they think we should lay all the blame on the kids..the are all stupid! The new defensive coordinator is about the best thing that has happened to this team in many years. Our coaches just do not have the abiity to transfer good football from the chalkboard to players. Thats the problem! And it is their job to motivate these kids or SIT THEM or KICK THEM OFF the team. But as I said earlier, last names and family clout will not let it happen. Maybe our school board should grow a pair say something.

Lol, I think you need to ask the guys he played with....

From the quote from u, "he has help with youth football" its like this Todd, you can stand in a garage all day long but you will NEVER BE A CAR". Just like Skip will never be a real coach and know anything that will help Sullivan football.

Who are you Todd, did you ride the pine too, with Skip??????? I bet you was on that team that lost 72-0 to terre haute, right!!! Good thing that you was riding the pine that game!!!

Let's look at who Sullivan has played this year. Linton and North Knox (both ranked top 10 in 1A), Southridge (top 10 rank in 2A), Northview (ranked 17 in 4A),Owen Valley (4A) and Edgewood (3A). That is a rough schedule for any 2A school! Lets not crucify the coaching staff. Also if you are watching this team they are getting better by the week. Now before you jump all over the rankings, this is how the teams they played were ranked at the time of the games.
Also coaching on the field is ALOT harder then coaching from the bleachers or computer!

The condition of Sullivan's athletics starts at home and at a young age. Parents don't prepare their kids for challenges. "Its too hot to practice." "My kids deserves to play this or that position." And kids grow up thinking this is how it works. No dedication, no work, no effort. Mom or Dad will take care of it or I won't play.

Lets run the ball up the middle one more time, it didnt work the first 50 times maybe on the 51st. DONT THINK SO!!!! Let Moody, Kinnaman, Vernelson and Fortner take you to your first victory. You have 3 really good receivers. USE THEM!!!!!

Is that Jake K. And Trent Moody that you are talking about?

Sullivan needs better coaches, get Skip, Trent and who ever is on that staff.
Ask that Todd guy!!
Todd is your last name Wilson or williams. Or Wolf????? If it was Wilson I remember him.

Boys, Its not all about winning!!! This comes from the parent student handbookSullivan High School recognizes that interested students should have the opportunity to develop their potential as athletes in activities appropriate to their level of ability. In this spirit, SHS provides a program of interscholastic athletics which promotes participation for qualified students within the rules and regulations of the Indiana High School Athletic Association and the Sullivan High School Athletic Department. It is the goal of our school to provide such opportunity as a further means of developing the intellectual, emotional and social maturity of our students, while at the same time teaching the importance and worth of teamwork and sportsmanship. SHS athletics also provide a unifying influence upon our student body and between our school and community. Finally, as is true in all aspects of education at Sullivan High School, our athletic program is committed to the pursuit of excellence, acknowledging that the quest itself is the most significant aspect of achievement.

its all about winning, if it wasnt then we wouldnt keep score. more people come watch the games if we have a good team and a winning season...so once again its all about winning. the reason why the kids practice everyday is so they can beat the team they are going to play...so once again its all about winning.

I agree it is about winning. If it wasn't, then the coaches need to make that clear at the beginning of the season. I am very proud of our boys for the win on friday, but still dont see true leadership from the coaching staff. That worries me for our future. It looks like the leadership is coming from within the team like Vernelson, Moody, and at times even the Turner kid. This encourages me. As I read down some of these posts I am saddened because things arent going to change until we allow our AD to have some influence on hiring WINNING coaches outside of our limited teaching staff. Because if we look close some of our better coaches are not teachers at all.

It's the Teachers union thats the problem, they have to offer those coaching jobs to teachers that belong to the union. They don't have to have prior experience or a degree to coach. My concerns with this is safety issues to our children that are being coached by inexperienced coaches that have no education on how far a Boy or Girl can be pushed in extreme conditions. The teachers union only protects the teachers not the students. So don't be to hard on the players they are only producing what has been taught to them.

Haven't seen anyone on here being hard on the players!!!!!! It all about the coaches, and it very well should be. Why is it they win at all the other levels, but when they get to the Varsity Level everything changes????

I just want to get this season over with! I have had to listen to my son come home and tell me some of the most stupid things these coaches have been asking him to do all season. But you do it and you keep your mouth shut or you dont see your son play. My son loves Football, I just hope we can get someone next year that can honestly teach the game of Football so as a parent I dont have to go through another season keeping my mouth shut on some of these damn plays you coaches come up with! Also when you invite parents in the day after a ballgame to watch the video, I just think its a little disrespectful to the players and the parents when you don't show up.

Great win on Saturday at lucas oil, thats the best i've seen them play in a couple of years, they played with a lot of emotion and tackled very well against a pretty good West Vigo team.
