I agree. What moron goes on Topix to bash the mayor. Only garbage sniffers use this site anyway, so you are just preaching to the out-of-tune choir. I hope the tards out of the city fight this. That way, when the mayor cuts all city benefits from those businesses, police, fire, etc., their insurance rates skyrocket because they have no coverage. The mayor has done more in less than a year than the last four mayors combined. And now all of a sudden the people who actually make money will have to pay a little more. Waaaahh! Am I really supposed to feel sorry for Allomatic, a place where they lay off all of their tenured employees to hire new ones to save a buck. Am I really supposed to feel sorry for walmart and all of the fast food stations who thrive because of the city? Am I really supposed to feel sorry for the owners of all of the nice homes just outside the city. Life is hard. It's time to change or continue dying the slow death. It's your choice Sullivan, unfortunately, we know how you people think.
No you are supposed to feel sorry for Northa American Latex who has been trying to leave Sullivan for 5 years now and pays poverty wages and works people like dogs. Oh by the way, I was told they have been cheating on their CITY sewer bill for the last 30 years!

Speaking of fires ask Kenny Plummer about his "fire" North American Latex Brad Stewart called us at the Hospital and tried to get us mad at the mayor over the fire department layoffs and now here is his chance to pay for those fire fighters and he wont give a dime and instead hires a lawyer to fight our towns progress. Hypocrit! What do you expect when he gets all his information from topix superstar Chuck Reed. Im learning more and asking questions. More people to be exposed later!

Just FYI- annexation is not justified if the city is doing it for financial gain. Annexation MUST benefit those being annexed, not the other way around- if the majority of the people being annexed already have the "benefits" of living in the city, then it's going to be hard to prove the city is providing them with benefits they don't have already. Leave Brad alone, he's a good guy.

You just said it, they ALREADY are getting the services and NOT paying for them. No more free ride!

The truth is if the annexation is successfully blocked, the city will cease services for those in that area. Watch what happens to your insurance rates without fire protection.

Fire protection is contracted with the city of Sullivan for Hamilton township- they are paying for it!! Hamilton township has also provided vehicles and ambulances to the city. I'm sure if fire protection "ceases" then so will the money for the extras.
Also my point was the city has to provide something they don't already have- if they have those things already because the city has allowed it- what are they to offer? Not the homeowners fault- this is all on the city.

I was told what the township paid the city hadn't been increase in 40 years. I vote the township try to build their own fire department for 50,000 a year and see how much that will get them.

I heard all this and talked to the Mayor myself. The "township" has a contract for 60,000 a year. They have bought some equipment in the past totaling around 400,000 over a 20 year period. But the fire department budget was just under 500,000 per year!!!!! That is 1/20 of the cost. The kicker is 30% of the "township"has residents are also city residents. That means the city taxpayer pays 100% of city costs and 30% of the township costs. Thank You Mayor for explaining that and setting the record straight.
