Hello, my husband and I recently moved to Sullivan. Our oldest son has got himself into trouble with the law already and we need a lawyer. Any advice on who we should get?

If you can afford them go to Terre Haute and get Smock and Etling. I don't suggest getting an attorney from Sullivan!!!!!!!!

Don't waste your time in Sullivan. Go to Terre Haute but stay away from Rowdy Law Firm and Ellis.
Oh No

There are some good attorneys here in Sullivan, believe it or not. Bob Springer, Ed Powell, to name a couple. Neither is involved in small town drama... don't drink, sleep around, or fraternize wtih MUCH younger women, and they both have many years of experience. Both have prosecuting experience, but also have had / currently have private practice. Ed is attorney for Peabody coal mine, WIN energy, has been the school board lawyer and up until recently was the hospital attorney. He is honest, as is Mr. Springer. I don't know how expensive either is, but if you need a GOOD lawyer, I would think it wouldn't matter.

Wow---evidently you weren't in Sullivan 15-20 years ago when they were younger and doing all kinds of things that would make your toes curl!! Believe me, they aren't saints...they both have been involved in stuff-some in the papers but most of it not. Honest?? Give me a break.

I don't know about 15 to 20 years ago... I'm talking about now. They are both honest, fair and are not involved in any small town drama at this point, nor have I heard anything about either of them in years. And yes, I guess Bob being Judge would rule him out. Sorry about that. However, they both are the most knowledgeable attorneys in the county and Ed would do a very good job! He has been our attorney for years and has never steered us wrong.

Trust me --you don't want him. All he wanted was my money. The only lawyer in town who helped us is no longer in Sullivan.

Well, according to the phone book that just about covers local attorneys. With no clear winner, I really don't know what to do. I did hear that the court here are sometimes biased against out town lawyers. I hate to take a blind chance with our son's future. Thanks anyway forum.

I think Marc Stalcup is in Terre Haute now but he is a honest lawyer and he helped me and my boy out and was real good about it.

When you get a good attorney from Tere Haute they always win! Remember money talks and bullshit walks!
