Resturant Closing

Someone told me today that one of our favorite resurants, Country Squire has closed? Can you tell me if that is true? We ate there about 3 weeks ago. I hope this is not true!!

I know the owner Jay Mixon and several people that work there and talked to one of them after they got off tonight and everything is fine and no closing has been even thought of. It has been there for almost 40 years under 3 owners and I know them all trust me when I say it will be the last thing to close in Sulligent, it is a family institution and local landmark. People come from 100's of miles(like Foley,Al. about 250 miles I think) to eat the fish that is done with a secret recipe and the only person who knows it the inventor I Charlene. "Charlie" has been there since she was 14yo under the first set of owners and makes the best fish and hushpuppies I have ever tasted. And not to mention the Rib Eye steaks hand cut at your table and cooked by the owner Jay has been there since he was 14-15yo. Under the second set of owners (Ken and Wanda Simmons) he started bussing tables now he owns the place and has since the early 90’s. There might not be much in Sulligent Al. but there is The Country Squire and will be for years to come, I hear people make offers on the restaurant and Charlie's recopies all the time I'm told and I'm also told it's not for sale."T"

My husband and I ate there last night with our pastor and his wife. The fish is excellent. Their grilled fish is hard to beat also. You need to ask for Cristin Oaks as your waitress. Sweet girl, great service.

Yes the food is good, but the service sucks. These people are such snobs. Go to the back porch for good food and friendly service.

Well, I like Jays fish and really like it since the all you can eat fish is back. I like the place and the servers. I just think he is a little too high on some things.
