Murder in Bear Lake

Does anybody remember a murder that happened in Bear Lake, Pa. I think it happened in the late 70's. I think the shooter's name was Hilaker or something like that. Anybody have information about this? I only remember it vaguely.

It happened in the early to mid 70's on Greeley St from the front door of his house (no longer there) in front of the Bear Lake Inn, was shot with a 30-30 rifle at about 20 yards

I lived there during the event.Both parties were friends of mine.I know a little about the story.Gary was not on "drugs" at the time nor were he and Mike anything close to friends

Did I have the spelling correct was it Gary Hilaker and Mike Morgon or was it Mike Morgan? Bill maybe you can remember what actually happened I thought it was over drugs.

It was over drugs. Gary invited some people over to his house, the people who took his drugs form him at a boy scout metting and stomped them into the ground.(If I remember correctly.) So he said he was going to have a party at his house and invited a few people. My two cousins were on the invite list but could not attened. Mike Morgan was the first one to come walking down the street when Gary shot him. Mike's last words were Gary you shot me, Gary's reply was "yeah I know and I'm going to shoot you again" which he did. He shot Mike Morgan twice. Then gary ran across the street to the Bear Lake Inn, a bar and said I just shot Mike Morgan. As I remember Gary was planning on killing several people that day.
