Whooppee the new library will only be open a few hours a week.

They forgot to include money to staff the new "Taj Mahal" properly whan they passed the referendum to build it.

Why were those two items separated anyway? If you are going to build a library why not let the taxpayer know what the total cost is on one referendum? Building and staffing. The building referendum might never have passed if it had been structured to include ALL costs to properly operate it.

Oh well, just the way it goes. By the way does that building strike anyone else as exceedingly large for a community of this size?

It does look big, but someone told me there is only one floor in that huge building that will actually be for books.

Can that be possible. It looks three stories tall. Why would you build it that height for just one level of books?

I have not been inside, but I have driven by it several times.
It looks huge. Why so big, I don't know.
But it has to be more than one floor inside for books. It is way to tall not to have more than one floor for books.
I hope.

Anyone out there know more about the new library?

That building looks more like cathedral than a library.

Government does not allow operation referenda with building referenda. They have to be 2 separate items and at separate times.

Does that make sense?
You can get approval to tax people for funding to build a goverment complex, but you can't get approval to properly staff it at the same time?

I realize we are talking about the government here, but even by their inefficient standards this makes zero sense.

So in theory, and now in reality, you can build a library with millions of dollars in taxpayer referendum funding and possibly never be able to staff it properly.

Beautiful.

This is just too,too much.

Build a fire station and maybe not have the personnel or funding to man it??

Damn, what a country.

Good luck getting the voters to increase their own taxes now in the middle of a bad recession to staff an obviously oversized library.

What a joke and a rip off of the Sugar Grove voter.

It can't possibly surprise any thinking person that government is extremely inefficient and backwards.
This is just another sad example of the taxpayer being used like a poor dumbass to accomplish something dishonestly.
