Wow! So everytime someone leaves a positive messeage it must mean they work there or have personal connections...I guess I won't comment on how much I liked my dentist in case I get yelled at by everyone

Amy from Rockford IL, did you take the time to read the 7 pages of complaints/concerns that preceded your comment? If you had a good experience, great; however, when folks have received below standard dental care, they have a right to feel emotional. Why don't you go ahead and share your wonderful experience, rather than mock the rest of us? By the way, I am always curious about how others find these posts. Most people search because they are looking for other complaints similar to what they have experienced themselves. How did you find this blog and why were you searching for complaints about Heartland Dental?

Since this is where I have to go for my insurance I went here...and Yes I have had great friendly people take care of me and take time to explain things. And I was no searching for complaints, I googled dekalb dental group reviews.

And by the way former employee, I was not mocking people...I read everyones statements and feel bad that they had to go find a new dentist that like better. What I did notice was anyone that wrote a good thing got yelled at or was accused of working there, so I was nervous about writing something good...so thanks for proving a point on here that no one can write anything positive without someone making them feel like they shouldn't have wrote a good thing.

Mystery bills referencing work yet-to-be performed, mis-diagnosis, extra services and commission oriented. Possibly the most questionable dentist that I've ever been to in my life.

Avoid at all costs. Someone should consider class action litigation against these folks.

I apparently have so many cavities that the Dekalb Dental Group had to divide my mouth in quadrants in order to treat me. I had Dr. Galloway. She was terrible at numbing me, and then yelled at me for not sitting still, and then pretty much gave up on my teeth (she even threw up her hands) and told me that I would have to see a dentist for children. I felt she was extremely rude and I think she has this mentality that "I'm the doctor; I know what's best!". My filling in my upper-left (I think it's the 1st molar?) is very sensitive to cold and hot now, and it wasn't that way before. I thought I had a medium-sized phobia of drills and pain before, but when I was in her chair, I was paralyzed with fear. When she tried to numb me, I believe that she was injecting too quickly because the liquid seemed to spill down my throat a bit. This leads me to also believe that she was either being impatient or she is inept at numbing a patient properly. She was drilling my lower-left back-most molar (2nd molar?) and I kept feeling pain. She then tried to numb me some more, but I kept feeling pain. During all this, I just kept getting more anxious, fearful, and apprehensive, but she didn't really seem to care about my feelings. After 2-3 hours of this drilling/numbing sequence, I was STILL feeling pain, at which point she gave up on me. I can't believe I went to this dentist just because my previous dentist was in my hometown an hour away. On a positive note, however, I feel her assistants are kind and caring (more than her, even!) and her office staff is very helpful (also more than her!). I'm sooooooooo now ready and willing to drive that hour to my previous dentist again, so long as I never hear of Dr. Galloway again!!!

watch over your your shoulders boys and girls because your scamming insurance companies.... As well as the state of Illinois.....Pam Zeckman my be visiting you soon, and the state of Illinois does not take kindly to criminal negligence... that's what your doing is. I wont bother to tell the horror stories, you all have read them

The fact that this place defends itself online should tell you how unprofessional they are. A professional organization would never stoop to this level.

A suggestion for those of you who feel you are being scammed ,report this directly to your insurance carrier THIS is one of the main reasons dental insurance is so expensive. People like this abusing the system. Might I suggest that you all also contact Pam Zeckman of Chicago's channel 2 news.

The BBB is a good starting place but nail em where they'll feel it most cut off the cash supply from the State as well as the insurance companies

shake the trees as hard as you can and keep calling for follow-ups to see what if anything has been done.

Good luck

The Dekalb Dental Group uses a machine that detects cavities. See here: http://www.1800dentist.com/laser-cavity-detec...

Now, according to 2 other dentists, this machine tends to over-diagnose. So, Dekalb Dental Group thought I had 12 cavities when the other two dentists said I have 3-4 (one of which was caused by a temp. filling from Dekalb Dental Group).
Dekalb Dental Group will give you a detailed rundown of the charges, BUT THEY DO NOT ACTUALLY KNOW IF INSURANCE WILL COVER EVERYTHING ON THAT SHEET. They only tell you that they *think* the insurance will cover, but they WILL call you and incure MORE CHARGES even though you already had the procedure done, thinking that your insurance would cover it.
ALSO, my insurance only covers so many fillings per year, so for Dekalb Dental Group to be diagnosing 12 cavities when there are actually 3-4, to me, is ridiculous and it abuses my wallet.
It's like my savings went away the second I called this horrid place.

I went to DeKalb dental group for a check up because I had pressure, and I was told I needed a root canal. They tried to give me a root canal that day. I felt extremely uncomfortable and decided to get a second opinion. The Dentist that I went to in CHICAGO, did the same x-ray and saw NOTHING wrong with my teeth.TURNED out that I just had SINUS pressure and needed NO ROOT CANAL or WORK done. I was so pissed with DeKalb Dental, they totally take advantage of students. All I had there was an exam and then they charged me for random things. I had to report them

"Lifetime Dental Care" hmmmm Sounds just like the same quote Heartland Dental uses. Are you sure you don't work there???

It sounds to me like the Dr's at DeKalb Dental Group are providing Lifetime Dental Care and giving patients the option of doing treatment. I have seen the dentists there and have experienced nothing but them telling me what was wrong and what could be done to help me. I always felt in control and was glad that I was given options and that they were honest with me.

I also had the same NEED for "deep gum cleaning". Off course this would not be covered by my insurance...I declined and was told I was risking all sorts of horrid things. Then they wanted to do a cancer screening...also not covered, again I refused. I went to another dentist and said nothing about what had been diagnosed. Yes, I had a couple of cavities, but good news the Dentist told me..."your gums are in great shape!" Never again will I return to Dekalb Dental Group!

DeKalb Dental Group is absolutely horrible! They did unnecessary work on my teeth, including replacing old fillings that did NOT need replacing, and when all was said and done, had a dental work plan that would have cost me close to $10,000. Thinking I had to see them due to insurance, they were able to get in a few replacement fillings and crowns before I decided to check if my insurance covered an honest and trustworthy dentist. While the staff and Dr. Nguyen are all very nice, I do not trust a word they say. Never will I see them again, nor will I ever recommend them to anyone.

My family and I switched to Dr. Sullivan in Sycamore, and could not be happier. He said that I did not need all the treatment I was quoted at DDG. I did need some treatment (I knew I did), and he is the BEST dentist I have ever been to. His staff are real professionals as well. Best of all, I see him around scool and church events...HE LIVES HERE!! That is a big deal to me. You won't go wrong here ... ask around and you will hear his name for sure.

I heard dr workman likes to sleep with the new, young office TEAM. Together, Everyone, Achieves, More
I was told by an assistant that she was in his room at one of the hotels during a conference. This occurred several years ago.

I had some pain in an upper jaw tooth. I hadn't been to the dentist in while and chose DeKalb Dental Group because of a co-worker reccomendation and it accepts my insurance. Since they knew I hadn't been in a while they told me I needed a deep gum cleaning. I agreed since I knew I had gum recession and I would like to keep my teeth. Amy was very polite and I have no issues with her, but after my second follow up for peridontal cleaning all of a sudden I have 2 cavities. Based on other reviews they really try hard to get people to go for the most expensive procedure. I decided that before I let the dentist drill in my mouth to get a second opinion. I find it odd that I keep getting discount fliers and advertisments from this place. The first sign to avoid this place is that they advertise in the weekly coupon clipper. I will never go back. The staff was friendly, but I had a gut instinct that this place has sketchy vibes.
