Why the violence? Why is so many people's first thought, "They should have shot him" or "I hope he dies" or "They should execute so-and-so"? Why is it that we are so quick to wish death on fellow humans? Yes, if you are being attacked, by all means, defend yourself, but I'm seeing a disturbing trend where people's first thought is, "Well, just shoot him." Somebody steps on your petunias? Blow his head off. Somebody look at you wrong? Cap him. Somebody yells at you? Put a bullet in his skull. Where is the humanity? Except in cases of extreme physical threat, is there really any good reason to shoot someone? No possession or religion or wrongdoing is worth a human life, even if the perpetrator is not a nice person. I believe it was Tom Robbins who said, "There are many things worth living for, there are a few things worth dying for, but there is nothing worth killing for."

Why the violence? What has happened to us? Why is our first reaction to so many things “Well, just shoot them”? I can’t count the number of times in this forum that I’ve heard someone suggest that we execute a person or shoot someone! Somebody offends you? Blow their head off. Somebody keys your car? Blow their head off. Somebody steps on your petunias? Blow their head off. Besides extreme physical threat/self-defense, is there ever a good reason to kill someone? No possession, religion, or argument is ever worth killing for. Is someone stealing your TV? Let ‘em have it! No human life is worth less than a TV or necklace or wad of cash! I think it was Tom Robbins who said,“There are many things worth living for, a few things worth dying for, and nothing worth killing for.”
