I have about 40 servers and a whole lot of other network equipment, sometimes I just get stuck here running updates, recovering systems, installing new ones and running around this huge building fixing other stuff so there are times I may be focused on here for a couple of hours with nothing to do but wait.I still don't understand why some think posters here are sitting in front of their computers all day waiting for a forum response. Most of us, even retirees or shut ins do many other things throughout the day while checking in during a break from those regular activities. I must admit though, when the internet was new and one could find useful information at their fingertips, I fell asleep at my keyboard more than once. Now that it has been flooded with garbage and advertising, not so much. My husband is just learning to use a computer. Combine that with being at home all day for the first time in his life and you have some interesting results. He can screw up a computer in just a few minutes trying to do something new. That gives me something to do for awhile as I attempt to unravel his thought process. He's a real job creator!
To be fair, On three computers there are three different operating systems. I'm just getting used to Windows 7. I am contemplating getting Windows 8 off the laptop. It is a horror.
At home, I spend less than 2-3 hours on a weekend on any of my machines at home cept for the one I keep vpn'd in to work watching my stuff here. I would rather shovel snow and enjoy a cigar while shoveling than spend it on here. To me the net is just an info source the same as it was pre web days when I was at bell labs.
