Why don't you fill us in on all the facts? Just how did he "dodge" the draft? Bill Clinton dodged the draft too so he could protest the war by demonstrating in Red Square. At least Bush served in the real military, right Slush?

He reportedly got a medical deferment because of a nervous condition.

Ted Nugent, the other big patriotic, Constitution defending gun rights spokesperson is a draft dodger, too. You don't even want to know what he did to get out of the draft. That man shouldn't be anywhere near firearms imho. It's probably best he never served in the military.

Nugent's a bow hunter. Nothing to worry about.

A lot of people dodged the draft. Many just never had their number called. I wish my brother dodged it.

I'm sincerely sorry about your brother Larry. Too many good young men died in that war including some from my own family. They served with honor.

It's well known that Nugent claims to have gone to great lengths to flunk his Draft Board physical. What's not so well-known is that he got a student deferment at the same time he was touring with his rock band, putting in an average of 300 shows a year. How was he going to school and touring that much at the same time?

An extract of Nugent’s Selective Service records, obtained via a FOIA request Nugent received student deferments in 1967 (1-S) and 1968 (2-S). But according to the Internet Movie Data Base website, Nugent has been “performing professionally since 1958, non-stop yearly touring since 1967, averaging more than 300 shows per year '67-73.” Hmm, that would include the two years he was supposedly too wrapped up in his studies to be serving his country.

But that hasn’t stopped Nugent from insisting that if he HAD served, he would have been one big mofo soldier. As the Rutland Herald reported, Here's what Nugent said he would have done if he went to Vietnam:

"… if I would have gone over there, I'd have been killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd kill all the hippies in the foxholes … I would have killed everybody," he told the Detroit Free Press in an interview published July 15, 1990."

The Herald also noted that Nugent’s efforts to avoid the draft make President Bush look like a war hero.

(Nugent claims) that 30 days before his Draft Board Physical, he stopped all forms of personal hygiene. The last 10 days he ingested nothing but junk food and Pepsi, and a week before his physical, he stopped using the bathroom altogether, virtually living inside his pants caked with excrement and urine. That spectacle won Nugent a deferment.

Sean Hannity went to ridiculous lengths Friday night (8/24/07) to defend Nugent's threatening rants against Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. FOX & Friends whitewashed Nugent's comments the next day. Apparently, this "patriot" can do no wrong on the "We like America" network.

What is it with these guys? When you look at the list of the most vocal conservative Republican military supporters, they're all chicken hawks!

Including Toomey in PA.

How old are you LightWeight? I have a feeling you weren't of draft age during the VN war era. Granted, the NRA could use a better model than Lapierre to defend Second Amendment rights. I personally think he looks like a perv, but almost no one went to that war if they could help it.

And that said, since you've never answered my question that I keep asking you, and since you are always bringing up draft evasion, could you vote for a woman president? How about Hils? Would her lack of military service influence your decision? She would have been draft eligible during the VN war years if she wasn't fewmale.

The important point is not if you served, it's if you are always clamoring for war, willing to send our fine young men into harm's way, when you did everything you could to avoid service. There are examples on both sides, but it seems more common on the right. Cheney and Dick Armey are perfect examples of chicken hawks. Mr. tough guys who were too busy to fight for their country and see the horror of war, but ever so willing to see someone else to die.

Nobody cares about Nugent and your continued use of him as representation of conservative thought only shows how shallow your argument is. If anything this president has only continued policies that were started by the last. Democrats have only gimmicks to contribute, nothing solid. Holder's attempt to try what's his name in NYC is a good example of Obuma's dog and pony show.
Regarding chicken hawks etc.: If you understood anything about diplomacy you would know that the threat of war is an important aspect of it. Your naivety is dangerous.

As long as the Democrats continue to propose a dialog such as the plagiarizing Milquetoast Biden waving his hanky to the Iranians they will continue doing what they're doing. This offer implies a "relationship", a legitimizing of the status quo. THAT'S the message Obuma is sending. They still have time to develop their weapons with no serious threat of repercussions in the near future.

Tell that to the thousands of Wounded Warriors who are trying to rebuild their shattered lives while George Bush sits on his cozy ass on his ranch in Texas. And the threat of war? We went to war based on WMD's. We really went to war so GW could repay Saddam Hussein for trying to assassinate his father? And what did we get? We removed Iran's biggest enemy in the Middle East. Bush and Cheney should, and may someday, be tried for war crimes.

Sorry. Tell them what exactly? That George Tenant, appointed by Clinton, told President Bush it's a slam dunk Mr. President?

Then why did President Bill Clinton send out Madame Almostbright and Defense Sec Bill Cohen to college campuses telling people that Saddam must be stopped because he was amassing WMDs AND nuclear weapons?

Why did Madame Hillary vote to go to war? She had the same "lies" Dubya had. She saw the same reports from the CIA that Bubba and Dubya saw.

What about Afghanistan? That's Ostupid's war now. Americans are still being killed. But because Ostupid is in charge it's OK now?
