Don't blame Coburn. He and the rest of the Republicans were willing to stay and solve the problem. It was the Democrats who walked out on the people. Apparently their paid vacation time was more important than helping the unemployed.
Check the facts before blaming the Democrats! Keep watching FOX news, instead of real research.

This really shows how some people don't read and comprehend very well and therefore should probably keep their mouths shut! Everyone that complained that these people were milking the system by drawing unemployment while working odd jobs for cash should really read the article again. It clearly states that their unemployment benefits have ended! Therefore, it's perfectly legal to work the "odd jobs", problem is those odd jobs pay very little and are not steady income and next to impossible to raise a family on. I was laid off from a great job that I loved and would do anything to have it back, and was told outright that it was 'cause they couldn't lay off the black guy or the woman out of fear of lawsuits! I'm not milking the system by any means and this is the first time I've ever been unemployed in my life. But now I can't get a job 'cause I'm either "overqualified" for some jobs or I'm told I don't have a high enough degree to get hired for jobs doing the same thing I've been doing for almost 20 years! So now I'm trying to go to school full time to get that higher degree yet I can't get financial aid because I made too much money last year before I got laid off!! It's a screwed up mess this country's in and it's all thanks to the people at the top that are making these stupid decisions that control our lives!!

Well Tom, Okie neighbor and all....why not cut foreign aid by the matching amount we need to feed and clothe our own instead of depriving your neighbors of their last hope during a depression? You probably think this will be short term and politically, you will weather the storm alright BUT Tom, short term to you is probably measured in weeks and months while short term to the millions affected is bread on the table tomorrow. Are you really that insensitive and blind?

Somehow it's always the "democrats fault" with the hicks isn't it? Have any of you ever stopped to wonder about the Irony that the Republicans are the party of the Ultra rich and the very poor white trash in this country? No Republican including Reagan in the history of this country has actually ever done anything for the white trash poor. In fact much of Oklahoma work projects in the last depression that pulled the state out of the skids was the WPA projects. Not once has the Rich ever done anything for you. Sorta explains why you're thought of as hicks don't it bubba's?

To add to the national debt will affect everyone for many years to come, he is trying to look out for everyone, not just one group. The democrats could have chosen to stay & work this out, but they chose to leave, only looking out for themselves. They knew Senater Coburn's stand & knew it would make him look like the bad guy when he is looking out for the country.

Too bad the Democrats voted to take a break rather than solve the problem. But then again, I'm not really surprised. They need the time to sell their new Healthcare plan to the American people. I ain't buying it. One third of Oklahomans will still be on Medicaid when the plan kicks in and I'll still have an inhaler with a $315.00 monthly price tag. That's only one of a few "scripts" that I need to stay alive. It's all really sad. Coburn will get my "Independent" vote this time around.

Times are tough that is why there are people older then them out there working Walmarts at night and Taco Bell during the day to make it. We can't carry everyone for this length of time. My last two companies went bankrupt and I lost my job but there is no way I would sit around for over a year unemployed. Jobs are tough but I think people are just finding it too easy to collect unemploymnent and they just are willing to make the sacrifices to do what they need to. Why give up your cable, cell phones, eating out, etc by taking a lesser job when you don't have to. Unemployment has to end somewhere or it just becomes welfare. Yes, welfare people. When the extensions keep coming and it is being put on taxpayers to carry them not what the businesses have paid in its WELFARE. At the rate the unemployment is being drained by extensions there will be nothing left. People have just had it too easy for too long. So there is no jobs in Stroud, big deal, I know people who drive from Claremore or Inola every day to work in Tulsa. These people have to make it work somehow and that is their responsibility not ours.

It seems there is always a segment of the population that believes they are entitled to unemployment benefits forever. Wrong. Get off your fat, lazy butt and go to work. Maybe you don't want to be a janitor or work at WalMart as a clerk, but you WILL do what you have to do to survive. There are too many lazy Americans that think manual labor is beneath them....hence the influx of the "undocumented".
Unemployment benefits are meant to be temporary. Coburn is right to take a stand I stand with him 100%.

Why should the "ultra rich" take care of the "white trash poor"? I could have been considered "white trash poor" and decided to turn my life around. I did it without a hand out or help from the government, I did it by working my butt off. I guess some would place me in the "Ultra rich", and contrary to how you label me I give a pretty big chunk of cash back to local non-profits in town. Now if you want to continue to bash the "Utra rich" for living the American dream, let me know and I'll close my checkbook.

I have friends and family unemployed as well. Groceries are skyrocketing! People must eat. Gas prices and medical make it more difficult. We have more adult family members who have moved in with us. The Media is way off on the unemployment rate- it is measured by only those who apply at the unemployment office. Thank you Mr. OBAMA for giving our money to the BANKS! Had you given it to the people or towards jobs Spending would've increased and THE PEOPLE WOULD'VE PUT IT IN BANKS! Cash4Clunkers!?! Who could afford payments? That was a BIG JOKE, trading in Escalades for smaller...Thank you SEN.COBURN for STANDING and DEMANDING a READING of the 2000 pg.HC BILL. The FIRST in 40 yrs in the Chambers! Our family supports you for not adding more debt upon us. If we stick together and stop this crazy political whirlwind atleast our great-grandchildren may see some light. Families, neighbors, and churches will need to work together to see us each get through. We all need to help one another.

By God, iffen Wal Mart is gud enuff fer me then it shud be gud enuff for y'all.

That's what you're saying. Never mind people can't pay their mortgages and feed their families on Wal Mart money. Never mind that all you're really saying is that you never made any money and never had anything so you thump that bible and tell people to stop being so greedy.

I disagree with the recent study released that said Oklahoma was the second dumbest state. It HAS to be the DUMBEST. You're the most racist state I've ever been in, the least educated, you make no money and are proud of it.

And before you tell me to leave? YOU LEAVE. You're the ones dragging this state down. I think I hear Mississippi calling you. It could be a hog in heat. Or both. Either way it would suit you better.

If you will check the congressional record, the facts are as stated above.

(March 25, 2010, 8:02 p.m.) H.Con.Res. 257; A concurrent resolution providing for an adjournment or recess of the two Houses.

In voting for adjournment 46 Democrats voted yes whereas not a single Republican voted in favor of the resolution.

The Oklahoma Republihicks blame everything on Obama and the Democrats. Never mind that the "recession" was full blown prior to Obama being elected. Never mind that Bush was the one who bailed out AIG and we'll never get the money back on that one. Never mind that Bush lied about Iraq and cost us TRILLIONS most of which went to Haliburton and Republican crony companies without even a single bid. Bush actually said "Iraqi oil profits will pay for this war". Read the other day the amount of money that has been repaid with Iraqi oil profits for that war. ZERO, ZILCH, NADA.

And this all the Democrats fault? IDIOTS. It's one thing to be ignorant. Quite another to be ignorant and proud of it. You people are beyond belief. You're just out and out STUPID.

Just goes to show that James Coburn neither cares about the unemployed or the people of Ok. Saw this coming for a while. Every person is not on assistance because they want to be. Sure there is bums out their drawing money, but the majority are hard working honest Oklahomans, that would Love to get back to work. Now you know who not to vote for.
You gimme gimme gimme people really are funny. Most of you are uneducated loons that only feel threatened when you don't get a free ride. You stupid liberal majority in congress just VOTED TO "PAY AS YOU GO" meaning you don't spend without the money either in hand or coming from already alocated funds. You loons say nothing about them breaking their word AGAIN, but are quick to challenge the one man trying to really protect you..........even if its from yourselves.
