I think what they failed to tell is that they are still going to close stores, which they PROMISED wouldn't happen if the contract was passed. Raff Rd is Canton is scheduled to close in 2 weeks. TRUST YOUR EMPLOYER. They are also cutting 80% of employee's to part-time.

Wow if they close the Barberton store, that will really hit that plaza hard! They just remodeled that plaza and started to get tenants in. CiCi's was on the corner as an anchor and they just closed recently, so now they are missing out on someone renting that large space. If Giant Eagle closes, then that would really be bad news.

The Barberton store is being remodeled right now. Why on earth would they remodel the pharmacy into a drive thru, just to close it? I think it may somewhat of a scare tactic.ton store is being remodeled

Clearly you're not skilled on contracts and/or reading. That was all until the current contract expired. Which it already did. Once a contract expires or is about to, you renegotiate.

If not for the $.10 off on a gallon of gas per $50 purchased, OMG would never shop at Giant Eagle. Their prices are too high, except for their weekly specials. WalMart is much lower priced every day for regular groceries because they have no union.

Bring in a super target and that would be the end of giant eagle trying to gouge akron citizens with their ridiculously high prices. I would love to see them all go!

We have a supercenter WalMart in Tallmadge/Brimfield now, and the remodeled Giant Eagle on west avenue has really dropped off. Prices are soooo much better at WalMart, except for the Carbon Monoxide meat at WalMart which OMG refuses to eat. Acme prices are even worse at the newly remodeled Acme on South then Giant Eagle.

I used to love going to work I love my fellow employees and regular customers. Now we are all scared and frustrated. Because we have worked hard to get where we are and corprate does not care. They only care about the money. At least when we were independent they treated us as human beings now they only care about the bottom line. As a result the customers and the employees are SUFFERING!

We should expect to see Giant eagle go the way of Fazio's. Unions run every decent employer out of town.
Wake up Akron! STOP voting for retarded democrats.
Unions are not the problem, money hungry employers are. And, the word retarded is considered very demeaning now to disabled people. It is no longer proper to use it, please refrain.

And that makes you a sucker because you have to spend all that money just to save a couple of bucks -- literally. Not to mention, most gas prices at Get-Go's are a little higher than others. Makes people like you look pretty stupid "hey...I saved .40 per gallon...even though Get-Go was .15 higher than BP down the street." Idiots.
