No way! Who cares if he made several smart choices. His 1 dumb chioce cost money. Make him pay. This will set a precedent and make an example out of him. Stick to the signs!

This was not a major rescue project. It didn't place any unusual burden on the rescue teams. Generally charges are reserved for people who force rescue teams to go to extraordinary lengths to rescue them. Was this guy foolhardy? Yeah, but that's what rescue crews are for.

He should sue the State of Maine. He properly equiped himself and yet was still injured by thier forrest.
