Dentists rely on their labs to use the safest materials but sometimes they are tempted by cheaper offshore companies. While some may have standards that exceed those in the US, from experience we know they can also be inferior.
The book 'Confessions of a Former Cosmetic Dentist' touches on the subject of toxicity, but the main risk of going to the dentist may not be getting poisoned. There are other risks that include being treated with procedures that are inappropriate. Extreme makeovers are not as safe as they may appear.
