All the dog has to do is chase or harm a domestic animal (horse, cow, cat, other dog, gerbil etc.) on someone else's property; at that point the law justifies the killing of the dog by the property owner. If you're not with the dog at the time it is killed, you can't defend the dog's actions- at least with any credibility.
The hillbilly mentality that your dogs can run all over other folks' property, simply because it's "not illegal", is the root of the problem here.
No the root of the problem is people like you that just pretty much said If you arent there with your dog I will shoot it and get by with it even if the dog isnt doing any thing, its your word against mine, thats the problem. My dad always told me anyone that doesnt want dogs on their property has something to hide, and Im believing that more and more. If you want to talk to me call me and I repeat it is not private property in the country, dogs cant read and these are hounds,So in that regard look up the Missouri Hound Asscoiation and see what it says. Or as I stated talk to the proc attorney if you are so concerned about a dog on your Private Property. I agree if a dog is chasing or killing a animal of yours you have the right to do something about it, but I can tell you most animal loveing people would call the owner first and let them deal with it rather than Kill it themselves.

The little sick punk that shot the beagles admitted to the police that they were not bothering anything. These are not the only dogs he has shot. This is how many serial killers start out by killing animals.

I say this ain't no freaking city...we aren't talking about running dogs through a beautiful yard with fancy flowers and cement ponds...we are talking country. What was someone doing out in the country...shooting a couple of little harmless beagels? Maybe the conservation agent should follow him around and see what else he shoots for fun...cows...mailboxes...all illeagal. All I got to say is if they were harming or tearing up your property shoot to kill....if they are running through like hunting dogs do...Gee your in the country. Enjoy listening to them trail. Hope this don't happen to anyone else. Oh and if you don't like the country...and us hillbilly folks go back to the stinking city.

I believe if you care for your dogs you would keep them safe. not taking a chance them getting hit by a car or some wild animal getting ahold of them.I love my dog and wouldnt dream of them running loose.also i get upset when a loose dog comes in my yard and takes a sh$$. and my kids stepting in it. yes i say the owners should keep their dogs out of others peoples yards.chain them or pen them up. simple..

Again, why is it the landowners responsibility to call you about your dogs that are running loose? Put them up. Plain and simple. The blood of those dogs is on your hands.

(Again) secure them. but they dont need to be shot.. have the dog catcher take them so they will be safe.have the owner go pick them up.. if it happens (3) times.. find them a new home where they will be safe..simple

Nope I let my dog run if he wants. Noone around my parts has ever shot at a loose dog nor have I ever heard of such a thing unless it involves a 12 year old ignorant redneck. Another thing that seems to run rampant in your parts, from the looks on this board, is ignorance. Your responses to statements appear to be coming from a 12 year old mind. Just like every other American you take advantage of the laws we have here. Most things in this world are easier to be dealt with than by drawing weapons. I remember years ago a neighbors dog down the road kept shitting in my yard. I calmly walked down to his door, knocked on it, and spoke with the man about this issue. I dont even live in that neighborhood anymore but if Tim Sanders as his dog still do Im sure he still dont shit in my old yard.

Whatever happened to the concept your neighbors are your neighbors. You are not obligated but a decent person would call and say their dog is on their property if they knew who it belonged to and not harm the dog. Stover mentality hasnt changed. I hope they do the same to the punk what he did to the dogs

From what I hear the beagles were not the first animals he has shot and probably will not be the last. As long as his grandpa keeps paying people off, he can do what he wants.

Dog owners who want to run their dogs on other peoples property could do a lot to improve their image if they were good neighbors and ask the property owner first if they object to the dogs being on their place. Then you would know if the property owner objects to your dogs. Then you could do the right thing and respect the property owners wishes that you not run your dogs on his land.

Asking for permission before you run your dogs is beter than expecting forgiveness after your dog has caused a problem.

I agree on that. Some people does not want dogs on their property. She has to be alot smarter then she thinks she is.
