Doinksstoughton wants to know what Neighborhood or house in town is the best decorated with Christmas lights and yard decorations?

I find the houses on ASH PARK DR. to be the Best in Town... GREAT work, nice to see Christmas Spirit alive and well (even under the attack of Political Correctness)!
WE NEED MORE!

What do you think, where in town is the best?

Stay tuned...

The picture attached to your name has an uncanny resemblance to Jack?

I thought you would enjoy some negative news. You love bad things so.....

A 40-year veteran Boston firefighter is being called a hero this afternoon after he pulled a homeless man out of a burning warehouse in South Boston.

Firefighter John Smith, attached to Rescue Company No. 1, was one of the first firefighters to enter the burning building at 205 West 1st Street, the corner of West 1st and C Streets. Inside, he found the man, who h ad been squatting in the building, and pulled him from the two-alarm blaze.

The victim, whose name was not released, was being treated at an area hospital but is expected to recover.

Fire officials said the man was one of up to several dozen squatters living in the warehouse. Inside the building, which officials said had electricity, an intricately organized squatters? residence could be seen with several beds, televisions, microwaves, and even a stocked kitchen setup, complete with a spice rack.

In a brief interview at the scene of the fire, Smith said he and his crew were only doing their jobs.

In firefighting, the "Rescue" unit typically goes into a fire without a hose line. They bring tools and air masks and enter a blaze with the sole intention of searching for and saving people who may be trapped.

"They did a fabulous job," said Boston Fire Department District Chief Gregory Mackin, who was in charge of firefighter safety at the blaze. "They went in there, there was a heavy fire condition, no visibility, and they pulled a man out."

Boston Fire spokesman Steve MacDonald said the call came in around 2:30 and took about an hour to put out.

They went and picked her up at her house on Park Street and drove her to the High School!

When has OUR tax dollars started paying for the transportation of Selectmen???

...but where is the outrage. Can you imagine this site if Kohn K., Levine, or beter yet, Mokrisky got a ride from the SPD. Dick Murphy would spend an hour on it.

isn't it amazing how stupid rumors get started only to find out too late that they are wrong?
This should be a lesson learned, but some people and fewer clowns, ever learn.

LOL
I agree. What if there was an emergency and she was in the car. there are certain grey lines in her business but this isn't one of them. This isn't her first time doing this. Someone should ask the Chief how many times she has been picked up and/or dropped off to her house since becoming Selectman. It is public record. This doesn't seem like a scandal, but it would be huge if a life threatening emergency occured while she was being driven. She has received dozens of rides and should pay the town back for each ride...and promise never to do it again.

The Inspector General of the Commonwealth has issued an advisory opinion stating that vehicle (never mind a police vehicle) use should be for official public purposes only; it should not include personal use, use by anyone not assigned to the vehicle, or use during non-business hours.

It appears she may have violated the Conflict of Interest Law Chapter 268A. Here is part of the opinion

Advisory for Local Officials: Control and Use of Public Equipment and Resources

Municipalities Must Ensure that Internal Controls Exist to Prevent Fraud, Waste, and Abuse

Advisory for Local Officials: Control and Use of Public Equipment and Resources
During the past few years, municipalities have had to contend with numerous cases of fraud, waste, and abuse by local officials. These cases range from the recent alleged theft of public works equipment in Ashland, to the bid-rigging scandal in the Everett public schools, to the abuse of expense accounts in the Wachusett Regional School District. Municipal officials and oversight agencies like the Office of the Inspector General routinely receive allegations of employee misconduct. These allegations include reports of employees regularly leaving work early, employees pilfering supplies, employees’ unauthorized use of municipally-owned vehicles, and officials steering contract work to friends and relatives.

Public Vehicles

For the purpose of this advisory, a public vehicle includes any car, pickup truck, van, bus, snowplow, backhoe, garbage truck, dump truck or any other motorized vehicle owned or operated by a public jurisdiction. The use of public vehicles during nonworking hours should be defined in the employment contract of individual staff and in a public vehicle usage policy. In general, this office advises each jurisdiction to establish a written vehicle use policy that clearly identifies a fleet administrator, a single employee who is responsible for monitoring vehicle use, and information for employees on the proper use of municipal vehicles. Vehicle use should be for official public purposes only; it should not include personal use, use by anyone not assigned to the vehicle, or use during non-business hours.

For more specific information see this office’s Guide to Administering and Complying with Vehicle Management Policies, available at www.mass.gov/ig .
