My husband tried to go to work in Ames from Ankeny and was met with troopers re-routing travelers. He said it looked similar to Cedar Rapids in 2008, when he worked at Kirkwood College and multiple roads and avenues were closed. Two years later and not all businesses in CR are back. Water is very destructive and it takes a long time to dry out and rebuild.
