That is not what happened at all. Bill Mason you are misinformed.

Here is the whole story:

Nicholas Capuano and Gary Bergin, both dropouts from Centereach High school decided to get wasted early in the morning because it was Saint Patricks day and they have nothing better to do, so they both drove over to Centereach H.S. and tried to go in the school through the Auto room, the teacher told them to leave, so they left their car parked there and went to another entrance and were let in by 2 students that will remain anonymous. They then decided that they would play there own game where they would walk down the hallway and if a student turned around and looked at them, they would punch that student in the face. One student, who will remain anonymous, turned around and was head butted and slammed into a locker. They also attacked several other students. They tried to exit and get in their car when only one security gaurd arrived there to stop them from leaving until the police arrived. They were then arrested and the police found marijuana in the car, along with other illegal things, they were also both driving drunk that morning. While these criminals were in the school, the principal did not even place the school in a lockdown or notify anyone in the building allowing these dropouts to roam the school in their rampage. That was just about the whole story.

I wrote all of that, and it is all true BTW.

Maybe you should ask Newsday for a job. You seemed to get all the angles and we don't have to figure it out on our own.

Too bad this story is so vague and misleading. Newsday should have delved further into the matter.

The administration of CHS has a long standing history of trying to keep their schools problems out of the news.

Now, the truth is out....

Nicholas Capuano, a convicted felon, who has recently been released from jail, drove drunk to the school and was allowed to enter the building. He then started a rampage of pushing and shoving students. He attacked at least two students who needed medical attention. Centereach FD ambulances responded and transported at least one of the victims to Stony Brook hospital. Gary Bergin and Nicholas Capuano were both arrested. Both are known drug dealers and users.

HOW CAN THE ADMINISTRATION OF CHS TURN A BLIND EYE TO THE DEPORABLE CONDTIONS AT THE SCHOOL???

Just last week, the students prepared for a possible violent incident during a "lockdown". Yet, yesterday, at no time were there any precautions taken to keep the student body safe.

The administration has no excuse!!!

Why did security not call police when the two showed up drunk the first time? They are WELL known the the entire population and administration of CHS.

How come these two criminals were allowed to access the building after the first incident. Their car was still parked on the school grounds. Does it take a rocket scientist to figure out that if their car is still there, THEY ARE STILL THERE???

Why didn't the parents receive a letter explaining what happened at the school???

Did the administration think no one would mention to their parents what happened???

The students obviously can look out the windows and see
numerous police cars, ambulances, and the victims parents rushing into the school.

It's surprising to see such a disregard for the students' safety.

Mr. Tom Bell, Principal of CHS, you should be ashamed of yourself. Start earning your lucrative salary and do something other than walk around the lunch room, picking up trays.

Next time it could be YOU who gets attacked,

Thank you for being brave enough to speak up and tell the truth. Mr. Bell, Dr. Piccone and the rest of the administration have no clue how to run a school.

There are violent incidents all the time there. They just try to sweep it under the rug.

if the first post has any merit - two students allowed them to enter the building. seems like they violated school security. and you want to hang the principal for that?????

CHS front doors are open at all times. Anyone can walk in. There is a table, down the hall, with a woman who is supposed to sign you in. Unless you are a student or parent of CHS, you have no idea of the number of incidents that take place. Principal is ultimately responsible for the safety of his building.

The principal over at that school really tries to keep all trouble inside the school by not informing anyone, there was the staph infections, the bomb scares, the fighting, the syringe incident, the drugs, last year the molestation thing. Its insane im tired of all of this my kids will be transferring if another incident occurs.

Just this year, there's been kids taken out in ambulance for drug overdoses, the two girls who were arrested for stealing credit cards & cash, numerous fights resulting in injuries, constant bomb scares...the list goes on and on. My big concern is why practice "lockdown" last week, then when the real thing happens yesterday, no one is notified.

Longwood was just as bad or worse. I had my kids in there 2 1/2 yrs, it was a nightmare & we finally moved them for their own safety.
btw Nothing in longwood ever made the news either although incidents happened almost on a daily basis.

Can't blame Bell for everything. Excellent AP at Newfield, brand new this year as Principal. Inherited horrible building run by two recently retired incompetants, Alene Abrams and Victor Visconti. Those two, along with that fat pos Piccone, ran CHS into the ground over the last 10 yrs. Terrible administrators and human beings.
All the teachers there are very, very, young and inexperienced and are given no help when it comes to discipline and are a discouraged lot. Time for faux Superintendant and lame BOE to make some serious changes. Suprised it took so long to reach Snoozday. I understand there was some excitement today too.

I bet his attendence record while in school showed that he needed to spend more time at school. Ironic that now that he is out, he wants to get back in.....

But hey, that's Centereach for you.

i think all of your comments yet enjoyable to read are misinformed and harsh the so called "dropouts" which i guess makes them criminals immediately none of you know these people so your ill remarks towards them are just as childish as the actions they performed...
