Thanks again to the gridlock caused by traffic from SBU, the worst is yet to come. Can you imagine the gridlock that the new technologic center will cause on Stony Brook road, already a curvy, narrow and dangerous downhill road ? I hope the traffic engineer on the job has a much better plan than the present layout. So far, in addition to the damage done to the road surface by the heavy trucking used in construction, it seems that whatever hopes local residents had for some intelligent traffic engineering at that point is not to be. The accident today is only the begining.

It's good that they didn't hurt any innocent people. Frankly, I could care less what happens to these kids. She was probably blabbing on her phone while speeding. No sympathy here.

Wow, a lot of harsh comments for a car accident. Have you ever had an accident?
I was once in a head-on crash (no, I wasn't speeding). It's no fun to have a lifelong injury.
I guess this forum is the "insult" part (you know, adding insult to injury).
Que sera, sera.

I live right down the street from the accident, it was ugly. The car was turned more than 90 degrees from the direction it came from. This accident had nothing to do with traffic, she was speeding. I agree with Paul that traffic is gonna be bad, but this accident wasn't near that bend. She was on a straightaway when she hit the pole.

Once again the idiots speed on down the road to the nearest pole for a late day crash. Not so smart for college students. Maybe they’ll remember to be more careful in the future. If not, we’ll read about them dying. Six people in a Nissan sounds cozy. Now all their friends will be posting here about how good and smart they all are.

God doesn't forget and besides your price you will pay, just imagine the parents of those kids who are on their knees thanking God their kids were spared. What's wrong with you? It only goes to show me at times like this what a sick world I live in and it is scary people like you inhabit it with me. I am very glad those kids lived and if they were speeding I hope they learned a valuable lesson. But the point is they lived and I thank God for that.

This really is a sick world and I find it scary that there is a never ending supply of idiots who drive with no concern for others. Maybe it would have been better if at least the driver died so they can never do this again.

I dare say that speed and possibly impairement was a factor. College students are suppose to have a degree of intelligence but most of the ones that I know are complete idiots and are totally lacking in common sense.

Hopefully, the six Stony Brook stupids will be ok. Out of control means excessive speeding and/or drinking. Will LIPA distribute the $3200 utility pole bill evenly among the six or just save money and send just one to the "insured" driver?

Slappy it's really rare i agree with ur post but this one got to me..first time i actually sat back and said "wow, he/she's right, thank god they were stopped before they killed me or one of my family members"...or anyone innocent for that matter.. you would think that after that horrific accident that killed those hempstead students not tolong ago when they hit the pole by the huge dumpster people would slow the fug down..what the hell is the rush for anyway?? the only place ur going to get to on time is death.. long ago my brother and i participated in what i loke to call a stupid move..we both were on the L.I.E and we started at exit 63 and had to get down to exit 34..I was doing 55-60mph while he was doing 70-90mph..just to see how much time we saved..besides the fact that he used a lot of gas he got there 24 seconds before i got there..go figure..speeding doesn;t save time..it's a waste all around

Unfreakin believable. People don't have anything better to do than bash others unfortunate enough to have a car accident? someone needs to start a newest testiment because there are some serious lessons in karma that must be learned here. those kids were probably coming home from a MOVIE!! Get a life you judgemental nuckleheads.

Well, at least the rocket scientist who was driving had the presence of mind to crash it across the street from the FD. Looks like a new Nissan. Isn't it wonderful how a college kid can afford it?

People really need to slow the eff down. I have been a victim of a speeding, hit and run driver on the Northern State. The guy broadsided me (doing 60 in the right lane) at about 100 mph and then took off. Fortunately, I was able to maintain control of the vehicle when I was pushed onto the grass.
We need more police presence on these kinds of roads.
