Kepler Space Telescope spies a 'Mega-Earth'

Interesting.

Kepler 10 may be a bar star, originating close to the core black hole & since being boosted into a disc orbit by the mass concentrations in the bar.

This is likely to explain the metallicity as it would have condensed out of the gas & dust surrounding the bulge in the core during the event that formed the bar.

The difficulty however is that for the planets to be rocky, they must have condensed out of the dust left behind after the star condensed. This would be a similar situation to the conditions leading to the formation of the solar system rocky planets implying a big planet in the outer system of the star.
The only other way to enable condensation of a mass of this magnitude is condensation from a companion star that became a medium mass red giant, with the companion eventually going either SN or becoming a distant WD with only the dust remaining in the interior solar system of Kepler 10. The influence of the companion/WD would affect the position of orbital bins, which would remain stable once the WD forms (expect MgCO3, Mg2C, MgO, SiO2, Mg2SiO4, Mg2SiO3, and a lot of Fe -> Pb metals in silicates as a result of the s process being spat out by the WD in its late stage PN.

The size of Kep10c may be better explained in that case as there is more dust in the outer part of a condensing dust disc.(should also give a Kep 10d in the outer thin infalling part of the dust disc but would be difficult to see if the orbit is inclined to prevent a transit).

May also have resulted from the collision & merger of 2 big planets in the outer disc during the red giant stage.

Clincher would be the metallicity of the Kep 10 central star now visible which would be enriched in s process metals in that case.
