Someone should sue, they should sue the govt for wasting our taxes on these skeds and oxygen thiefs. If you liberals are so concerned, bring your checkbook to the jail and start writing, when the murders and rapist get out, give them a place to stay, share their pain as the middle class taxpayers are tired of doing it.

It's funny that this country claims to be different from other countries that they claim are cruel. This country is the same as any other. Now it's a good thing that there are only "guilty" people in prison. One example, Martin Tankleff. This justice system and the BOP is a sad sick joke.

Why not ask all the innocent people who were finally freed through DNA if they deserved to be treated like shit in prison? Get your head out of your rear end.

My brother is innocent and had to take a plea due to incompetent representation. Not everyone in prison is guilty. They are treated as subhuman by the prison authorities. One of his fellow inmates was attacked and severely beaten by prison gang members. The guards made him stay in his cell for 24 without medical attention, claming that there was no medical treament available on weekends. His nose and hand were broken. He suffered needlessly as the guards relished in watching him bleed. The prison guards are selling drugs to the inmates. Get your heads out of your asses!

Yeah right....The prisons are full of innocent people. They were all arrested on their way home from their 40 hour a week job, to see the wife and kids. If only they hadn't taken the wrong way home they would be at the animal shelter now, feeding kittens with a bottle.

Come join us in reality. It's a great place to live!

I dare you to look up the actual Hyppocratic Oath on the internet. The un-edit version. Don't even go there because as long as it is socialy okay to abort a baby and assist in suicide, the oath is violated. Read the words of the oath, seriously!

My son was beaten by a guard, who impersonated an officer, and has been requesting to be seen by a neurologist. It's been a month and still no appointment made to see one. His nose broken, eye damaged, head busted to swell, etc. Whether innocently jailed or rightfully so, no one has the right to inflict physical injury to an inmate. The fact that the person is serving time, is not a reason to be beaten or kiilled by guards.

Wonder if that was your son, daughter, mother, father, etc. would you feel the same?

As for tax dollars, are you so perfectly abiding by the law? Hmmm, been putting that foot to the pedal, going over the speed limit? Cursed a cop when getting a ticket? Changed price tags to get a cheaper price? Work off the books? Civil servants, such as cops and other law enforcement do this quite frequently. Drink and drive, even a little bit and hope you don't get caught.

Please, all you holy rollers making such holier than thou remarks.

The correction officers are just as bad as the inmates; if not worse in some cases.... If the people on the outside really knew what went on in the inside...it would more than curl their nose hairs....

I'm sick of hearing the truth about the correction officers hitting and causing fights just to get their ego up.The senate should do somthing about this. You see this stuff on real tv.

Martin Tankleff???? i'm predicting future headline there--unless he really has petered out with age and it was a one-time crime.

if you think our justice system is so bad, then head to Mexico or Pakistan and commit a crime. wonder how you'd do in their jails. probably, end up with no medical care or teeth for that matter.

I must confess, took a wrong turn and some scantly clad vixen had raised my attension. Giving her a ride she felt ill and fell into my lap.
Next thing I know Iam in jail and for what -To give someone a ride ,I even gave her $20 bucks when she got in my Bently so she could get a meal when I was to drop her off. This is a injustice and how many others get abused by the cops in this same manner. Trump up charges on a well respected member of my East end community and west side. I damn shame I do say.

it is true that inmates (guilty or not) are treated quite poorly. they have been beaten senseless while in riverhead. i know this to be true. even guilty people should not be beaten up. and the worst part is the "police" are KNOWN for STEALING personal property that is valuable. it is written off as "happens all the time" the thieving that goes on in society is wrong and so why should the so-called authorities get away with stealing. they never returned a very sentimental ring that WAS a family heirloom worn by my brother when he was involved in an incident and was taken to riverhead. it's just wrong. and by the way... how do inmates get a hold of drugs that we always hear about???? yeah, i think we all know that answer

It's so sad to see so many people making judgements on here on things they have no clue how people can end up in jail. While there is bad people in jail, there is also addiction and mental illness. If you have seen reality like I have, you would understand and be empathetic toward human suffering. Please people pray it will not happen to anyone close to your heart. Ask god to forgive you for your judgements on people. You know nothing about. I pray for you, the blind and deaf.
