Sad story

But nobody I mean nobody should play with a loaded gun.
They are old enough to know better.
A shotgun at close range is one of the most dangerous firearms on the planet.

How stupid do you have to be to be playing with a loaded gun?????
AND how stupid do you have to be to stand near someone playing with a loaded gun?
Both kids got what they deserved. One died, and the other will hopefully go away for a long time. Accident or not, this is not the type of person who should be allowed to stay in society. He is too reckless and stupid to be allowed in the general public.
Good riddance to both.

What a shock.
Why are you still using a name that is not yours? Are you so obsessed with Dano that you still use his name>? I will discuss you and your comments with him when I see him tomorrow. You know nothing about Port Jefferson Station. You live in Roslyn Heights, maybe you should check outside your own door once in a while. Not so great to live in Nassau. How can you be such a cruel person. You didn't know these people or the family. How can you judge them?

This is just so devastating. What a tragedy. My heart goes out to Sean who will have to live with this for the rest of his life. My boys are the same age and have known you since kindergarten. I can't comprehend that this was anything other than a tragic accident. Peace be with you.

I Was told by my son who knows him personally that he broke his leg in boot camp. Why is that even relevant?
Has ANYONE considered how these boys were coping before this happened? Their father passed away from cancer and where is mom??? So sad, had he not broken his leg this may have never happened.

The Mother left those two a few years ago. She was, and is... garbage. I hope she is reading this. If she was half the mother that she was supposed to be this would not have happened. After thier father died they had no one to turn to. 18 & 17 year old kids need guidence and family.......She didn't have the decency to even pick up the phone when thier father died....Garbage!!

Think about your kids when you are feeding those cats.....are you proud of yourself???

Mia
"Of course jail time is warranted if they were goofing around. If it wasn't intentional, he obviously did not use the care required to handle a fire arm"

Sorry Mia, but i fail to see the "of course" reasoning. If it was truly unintentional, the brother should not go to jail. It was a terrible accident.
Accidents do happen, even with items other than diet coke cans and mentos candies. Yes, there are accidental shootings.
He's lost his brother. If he has a brain in his head he won't ever handle a gun again, let alone be careless with one. If it were truly an accident, Jail would serve no useful purpose. Bar him from owning guns, give him probation, but a jail sentence is out of line.

The poor kid probably is on the brink of disaster without any punishment, he's alone and has to deal with what has happened and he is accountable whether it's "punishable" by law or not. These kids lost their father and their mother went AWOL from what I understand, How the hell can ANYONE expect anything good to come of that? This was a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE tragedy any way you look at it and there was NO ONE to supervise it, stop it, feed these kids or just hug them when they needed it. Breaks my heart to know now what was going on over there.

What are you an idiot? The full story of how or why it happend has yet to have been said in public. You problaly believe the children who have been victims of school shooting are idiots and deserved what they got as well because 'they were there'? No matter what, you think a 17 year old kid should be shot in the face? No child deserve what has happened, neither of them. I agree having a loaded gun in not smart but we do not know anything to judge the way you have. How dare you make such a comment that he deserved it! I pray that you do not have children because I can just see your attitude as 'Oh well, he/she deserved it regardless if there a victim or not'. Both boys were going through a ruff time and one had a plan for his future. Instead of bad mouthing the kids why don't you have a heart for the family they have left and think about what they are going through. Who made you God to judge?
