Seems ironic that the condominium flatlanders were not too concerned when they wanted to build their sprawling complex a few short years ago. It took over the old Cape Docks and blocked the local fishermen from their skiff poles and moorings for their fishing boats. And ran the campers and tenters out of the area which they had used for many years. Oh, but now we do have a pretty park (which you can't use), a "restaurant" (The Stockton Yacht Club), and oh, yes, the WHOLE shoreline blocked off so it can not be used. And these flatlanders don't want an RV park??? Guess we should have opposed them when they wanted to come in, huh? GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM!

I am sorry it has taken me so long to find this post. I am one of those "condominium flatlanders" that Jim writes about.
Jim, I think you missed some truth here. One, we are not ALL against the RV park. Two, The shoreline is still public. Anyone can walk on the beach, it is public property period. The park at the dock area is open to everyone. It is NOT just for boaters and I work with the harbor committee to see that it stays that way. If you want it to go back to what it was when it was a dirty ugly place where people squatted in the woods and most of the locals would not let there children go down "to the Cape" then that is sad. Three, the local fishermen still have there moorings and a dock for there skiffs. There are no complaints that I have heard from them. Last, the "restaurant" or Stockton Yacht Club was never ment to be a restaurant. The proposal of a restaurant was turned down by the DEP long ago. The original developers plans for that property have apparently never worked out but that is his issue and not he condo owners. Sorry Jim, I am here to stay. There are some wonderful people here! |

Jim, I GREW UP IN MAINE, and I own a condo on the Cape. I've probably lived in Maine longer than you. Your posting is ridiculous, insulting, short-sighted and of no good use.
