I read the Forbes article, and I've been to Stockton.
1) Stockton IS the most miserable city in America
2) Modesto ranked 5th
CONGRATS to California, for netting two of the worst 10 cities in America!

Im sure that the guy that wrote this has never actually been to Stockton. I have lived here over twenty years and love it. Would I rather live in Monterrey or Carmel? Sure, who wouldn't. But I can get there by car in a couple of hours. As a matter of fact I can also be in Tahoe in a couple of hours, or on my boat in the Delta in a matter of minutes. It's way too easy to look at negative aspects without weighing against the positive things. On the whole it's a great place.

Stockton is only miserable if you are low income, under employed, unemployed, or a minority. If you are rich you are royalty living in Stockton.

interesting, that some say pro and con about stockton
we moved, because we were tired of dodging bullets
and we lived on the north side
we were afraid for our children, our home, our own lives
we were never involved in gangs, drugs, any kind of criminal activities, or even associated with these thugs
but it didn't stop the trash from shooting in the street, that they were chasing
had to grab, the family, and hide in the backroom, to avoid the bullets flying
damage to the house, shot out windows, because the one they were chasing, ran between the houses
park your car, gets broken into, stealing our neighbors car
you can stay there, all you want, we won't be back until the trash is taken out
