What to do about illegal immigration? Too many people are paralyzed by the magnitude of the problem, and figure that since we can’t deport them all, we’ll have to bite the bullet and let them all stay legally — i.e., give them amnesty.

We just need to keep this up and get the SAVE Act passed so these employers are unable to hire illegals without facing severe penalties. Revisit the 14th Amendment to use it as it was intended. Stop ALL federal funding to any city, state, etc. that is acting as a sanctuary for illegals.

With all of that, we should easily get 99% of the illegals to leave.

Read the following link carefully.

WHAT? We should easily get 99% of the illegal to leave? Oh dear, you don't know what you are saying. 99% of them have had children, now those children are American citizens, and no one can force them out. They knew what they were doing by having children. Let's say the parents are deported, do you know what will happen? When those anchor babies become 21 they can claim their parents, and those parents will get citizenship right away. Be realistic, don't fooled yourself. We have all those millions of illegal here with children, and more millions are coming, and they are coming to have children, because they know that by having childrn they can stay. The only way this problem can be solve is by clarifying the 14th amendment, the 14th amendment should say that children born to people illegally in the country do not have the right to citizenship, unless one of the parents is a citizen. As long as people can come here to have babies while they are illegally in the country, the illegal immigration problem will not stop.

----------

This is really ridiculous. They don't have to be deported at the expense of the government. They will selfdeport if the government passes a law that children born to illegal don't have the right to be citizens, and fine a good amount of money anyone who employs an illegal person, and sometime in prison. The problem is that the politicians don't want to do anything about it. Not such a thing that nothing can be done, there is an immigration law, and everyone has to abide by it. Nothing can be done is an excuse.

Well gosh, I'm really glad our countrymen didn't have a "we can't do it attitude" while fighting all the wars. We can do everything! And we will!

used Census Bureau surveys to estimate that the illegal-immigrant population has fallen from a peak of 12.5 million in August of last year down to 11.2 million this past May, a drop of 1.3 million or 11 percent. This decline is at least seven times larger than the number people removed from the country by the immigration authorities during that period, meaning that most of the drop was due to illegal immigrants deporting themselves. If that rate of decrease were to continue, the illegal population would be cut in half in five years.

----------
This is not true. How can they know how many millions of illegal are in the country? Illegal don't open the door to the census people.

If 1 illegal leaves, 10 come in. Don't you see everytime they show the border the illegals jumping the fence? This is the situation everyday by the border, illegals jumping the fence everyday+ the ones that come as tourist and never leave.

"Facing the specter of having to run on their accomplishments this coming November, nervous Republicans are scrambling for an issue to distract the electorate from their dismal records. The SAVE Act is just a return to the short-sighted Sensenbrenner Bill (HR 4437) and represents more of the failure in leadership that has marked Republican efforts on this issue. We need leaders who will tackle tough issues and be willing to do the hard work necessary to solve complicated problem intelligently - not offer false promises, empty rhetoric, and cynical election-year ploys at the expense of immigrant families .

The SAVE Act (HR4088) would Require over 130 million US workers to prove they have the legal right to work, it would force employers to submit to using a broken government database, so inaccurate that 12.7 million US-born and legal resident workers are categorized as undocumented workers. Once caught in this maze of bureaucratic incompetence, the SAVE Act would allow only ten days to prove ones eligibility to work or face mandatory termination.

In unsettled economic times, when many Americans are a single paycheck away from economic disaster, the last thing we need is another cynical election-year ploy to play to "the base" at the expense of working families. The American people want real solutions to real problems ... not cheap sound-bites masquerading as legislation.

Call your representative today, and tell them you want them to do the real work you hired them to do, and not concentrate on divisive distractions in hopes of saving their political hides in November."

If McCain is not able to contain these idiots within my Party, I may have to vote Democrat this coming election. It's stupid to try and revive HR 4437 through this act. But, I'm not surprised! I see you!!:)

The 14th Amendment CAN NOT be changed through simple legislation. It will require a change to the Constitution. Only idiots think that Congress, on its own, can change the 14th Amendment.

It is deplorable to see some people expressing such wildly draconian measures. Thankfully, such measures were resoundedly defeated before and there no reason to expect a different outcome. But some people keep trying. It's like expecting fences, border patrols and mass deportations (Even self deportation, HA HA) to work. We need much more than Enforcement Only hocus pocus.

I agree!

Here are a few Mexican hate groups!

http://www.mexica-movement.org/
spreading hate, and promoting the racist "reconquesta" propaganda.

http://www.aztlan.net/
Another racist hate filled "reconquesta" website.

How about MEChA? Which has chapters on school campuses across this nation
with their "reconquesta" racist propaganda.

And there is the "Brown Berets de Aztlan" a militant, armed group of
"chicanos" (Mexicans) who are recruiting to take over the US southwest by
force:

Been tried before!

(1)Hart-Celler Act hearings 1965 Quote: Senate immigration subcommittee chairman Edward Kennedy (D-MA.) reassured his colleagues and the nation with the following:

"First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same ... Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset ... Contrary to the charges in some quarters,[the bill] will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived nations of Africa and Asia ... In the final analysis, the ethnic pattern of immigration under the proposed measure is not expected to change as sharply as the critics seem to think."

Sen. Kennedy concluded by saying,

"The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs." (U.S. Senate, Subcommittee on Immigration and Naturalization of the Committee on the Judiciary, Washington, D.C., Feb. 10, 1965. pp. 1-3.)

(2)"This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this."

Right!

Quote:
Behind the respectable front of the National Council of La Raza lies the
real agenda of the La Raza movement, the agenda that led to those thousands
of illegal immigrants in the streets of American cities, waving Mexican
flags, brazenly defying our laws, and demanding concessions.

Key among the secondary organizations is the radical racist group Movimiento
Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan
(MEChA), one of the most anti-American groups in the country, which has
permeated U.S. campuses since the 1960s, and continues its push to carve a
racist nation out of the American West.

One of America's greatest strengths has always been taking in immigrants
from cultures around the world, and assimilating them into our country as
Americans. By being citizens of the U.S. we are Americans first, and only,
in our national loyalties.

This is totally opposed by MEChA for the hordes of illegal immigrants
pouring across our borders, to whom they say:

"Chicano is our identity; it defines who we are as people. It rejects the
notion that we...should assimilate into the Anglo-American melting
pot...Aztlan was the legendary homeland of the Aztecas ... It became
synonymous with the vast territories of the Southwest, brutally stolen from
a Mexican people marginalized and betrayed by the hostile custodians of the
Manifest Destiny." (Statement on University of Oregon MEChA Website, Jan. 3,
2006)

MEChA isn't at all shy about their goals, or their views of other races.
Their founding principles are contained in these words in "El Plan
Espiritual de Aztlan" (The Spiritual Plan for Aztlan):

"In the spirit of a new people that is conscious not only of its proud
historical heritage but also of the brutal gringo invasion of our
territories, we, the Chicano inhabitants and civilizers of the northern land
of Aztlan from whence came our forefathers, reclaiming the land of their
birth and consecrating the determination of our people of the sun, declare
that the call of our blood is our power, our responsibility, and our
inevitable destiny.... Aztlan belongs to those who plant the seeds, water
the fields, and gather the crops and not to the foreign Europeans.... We
are a bronze people with a bronze culture. Before the world, before all of
North America, before all our brothers in the bronze continent, we are a
nation, we are a union of free pueblos, we are Aztlan. For La Raza todo.
Fuera de La Raza nada."

That closing two-sentence motto is chilling to everyone who values equal
rights for all. It says: "For The Race everything. Outside The Race,
nothing."

The following is a summary of the major provisions of H.R. 4437, the Border Protection, Anti-Terrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005. The legislation passed the House of Representatives 239-182 on Friday, December 16, 2005.

*

“Unlawful presence” would now be considered a crime and a felony, meaning that undocumented immigrants may have to serve jail time and would be barred from future legal status and from re-entry into the country.
*

Immigrants, including asylum-seekers, victims of human trafficking, victims of domestic abuse, and children who are apprehended along an international border or at a port-of-entry would be detained until such time as they are removed from the nation or otherwise provided immigration relief.
*

Anyone or any organization who “assists” an individual without documentation “to reside in or remain” in the United States knowingly or with “reckless disregard” as to the individual’s legal status would be liable for criminal penalties and five years in prison. This could include church personnel who provide shelter or other basic needs assistance to an undocumented individual. Property used in this act would be subject to seizure and forfeiture.
*

The use of expedited removal, which would permit DHS enforcement personnel to remove a potential asylum-seeker without providing an opportunity to appear before an immigration judge or qualified adjudicator, would be mandated within 100 miles of the border and within 14 days of a person’s entry into the country.

*

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) would be required to erect up to 700 miles of fencing along the Southwest border at points with the highest number of immigrant deaths.
*

State and local law enforcement are authorized to enforce federal immigration laws. State and local governments which refuse to participate would be subject to the loss of federal funding.
*

Asylum seekers and refugees who are convicted of a minor offense, such as petty theft, would be barred from permanent legal residence and eventual citizenship.
*

Document fraud would be considered an aggravated felony and would subject an asylum-seeker to deportation and bars to re-entry.
*

Nationals from countries who do not accept the return of aliens who commit crimes in this country would not be admitted to the United States. This would include countries such as China, Vietnam, and Cuba.
*

DHS would be given the authority to continue to detain individuals who have served their sentences based upon a determination that they are a “dangerous alien,” contrary to Supreme Court rulings barring indefinite detention.
* The diversity visa lottery program, which allows 50,000 immigrants each year from countries around the world to permanently reside in the United States, is eliminated.
