Ok people.....we are living in 2013 and I just saw 2 coyotes the other day (04/2013). One near Del amo and Atlantic in Long Beach and the other near Centralia and near gridley. The sightings were both in early morning around 530am. The were both near parks. Im concerned, but I have no small animals. I just need to tell folks.....be on the look out......

I reported a coyote sighting in LAKEWOOD Ca. in 2010.
I was walking down the street and saw the remains of an dog or cat on someone's front lawn (eerie feeling). The next day I saw a coyote.
Have there been any recent sightings near the Lakewood mall on Lakewood Blvd. and Candlewood?
I recently got a dog and I feel that it is not safe to walk the dog

I'm sure coyotes don't feel safe around your big fat behind. Keep your mutt on a leash, and nothing will happen. Coyotes hate you. The thought of feasting on you or your filthy mongrel makes them want to vomit a mouse.

I seen a coyote walking down Vermont and Alondra in the city of Paramount about 7 months ago. I really didn't know what to think until I read this thread. No one really appears to believe me when I tell them.......but I know what I had seen. Thanks for sharing

From what I hear they mostly go after cats. Cats are left out at all hours and not as closely watched as dogs, thats probably why. If you have dogs though, keep a close on eye on them, especially if they are small. Coyotes can get over walls by the way, so a fenced in yard isn't exactly safe. I think there was a story about someone with a big dog recently that got killed by coyotes.

I feel animal control or wild life control should take care of this problem cause now its out of control we have coyotes in downey now and they are a nuisance let alone killing family pets so they r wild animals they need to be taken back to the wild !!!!!! Animal control cant bring back my sister n laws poor yorkee but they can find a way to stop them from harming people or other animals so take action its not like its a possum they dont belong in the city !!!!!!

My husband saw 2 large coyotes after they had killed a cat in Downey. They were NOT afraid of him. Only the car moving caused them to move a bit away from the dead cat they ripped apart.
Very sad. California fish and Wildlife needs to make changes to their failed policy.
We can not coexist with wild animals in our cities.
Hazing coyotes is a big joke. Cruel joke to all pet owners. Just look at the thread . It's been at least
5 years and coyote problem is getting worse. Hazing does not work. Confirmed by the needles deaths of so many poor animals.
Enough is enough. We all need to call city hall Mayors office and or go to city council meetings.
Time has proven "avoiding" coyote conflict" behavior does not work.
The only way to keep pets safe in our own backyards is keeping dogs and cats in an enclosed
(Top a must) area.

Saw a coyote tonight near Imperial between Bellflower and Woodruff. Yes, five years later and they are still here. There are many street cats here so I guess there will now be less. :(

We live in this area, near the 105. We've seen a few coyotes within the past few weeks. I was told by a Downey city worker that there was a coyote den in the old Boeing building, and once construction started there the coyotes were chased out. It's scary to see these guys running around late night/ early mornings. i think they must be living on the side of the freeway..
