Wait til they start checking you guys that are unprepaired for the water. Life jackets, extignuishers, Oars, Ropes, first aid kits, weather radio, lights, ect... You guys want to be pricks, the EPO's can be real sticklers if they want. Don't be stupid, clean your boats and gear and there will be no problems.

I say that if you put a gate keeper at the entrance to each lake in the area discussed and have two people ( park rangers?) check each boat comming into and out of the lake and charge people accoringly. In state people $2.00 a car load of people no boat.$10.00 a vehicle carring a boat. Out of state charge $6.00 a car load and $25.00 with a boat. If a bus load shows up charge $72.00 flat. If a person has a pet in the vehicle then ask to see the vet papers or tag from vet or city dog tag.(easily obtained from the vet I carry mine for camping because if you take your pet camping they need the papers to stay). I dont see this as a problem this would help keep the lake self sufficent income to pay for the rangers and clean up crew. Maybe have the jail help by bringing the clean-up crew once a week and the city could make a little revenue for the city to use for the park at each lake. Does this sound too crazy not to have happen. I remember as a kid my parents paying at the booth at state forest to enter for the day and paying for a table reservation at onota and pontoosic lakes.what happened to that.

I agree that the "honor system" is a waste of money. Boater education is worth it - but it only goes so far. A sign at the boat ramp would've accomplished the same as the folks standing there. The funny thing is that local authorities are acting as if this is the first outbreak of the mussels. I am from Michigan originally where they have been living with these for quite a while now. And contrary to popular belief, it is not the end of the world as others would have you believe. It's a fact of life. Even though they were brought to our shores by ships, they are still an act of nature and there is nothing we can do to stop it. Our money would be better spent investigating how to live with them than pretend we can prevent.
I agree, I moved here from Pa., boy what mistake, anyway, maybe these Do gooders should head West to see what is being done, and live with it. Problem here is Overreact.

Are you crazy $10 or $25 to drop my boat into public waters I have already paid for. I buy my fishing licences and hunting licences every year. I personally have already paid for this. You want to Check the licence or registrations of the boat which also pays for this then fine but pay a second time? I do not think so. You want to charge a $2 park fee for everyone that is fine but you do NOT want to be punishing one group above another or you will very quickly find the real source of your money that supports these places dry the hell up. Oh and when you begin to charge for use, be ready to take responsibility for anything that happens in the park. My truck gets broken into then the city is responsible. The road is in disrepair the City is responsible.

You need to think before you open the hole in your head.
