How about the sheriff's department patrol the roads like they do in most states. not with Carmine in office and the Clowns under him, but made up of a legitimate applicant pool. officers that patrol your towns are mostly reserve officers and if you saw what they went through to earn a badge it may leave you feeling a little uneasy, not to mention those positions are ALL political favors. Anyway the state police union has too much say we'd never see the sheriffs department on the streets. The sheriff even could take over court security. Man how many chiefs did we just put on the bench. Go PUDGE!!

On the surface, this proposed plan sounds like a good plan. However, I doubt it would get past the voters. Personally, I believe it might work if planned right and staffed correctly. I would be very interested in seeing how any money will be saved by each town. So they go from 3 chiefs to 1. I doubt their pay could be cut. There would be more miles put on the individual cruisers I have to assume unless they plan to have them patrol certain areas only like precincts. I can't see where they could reduce staffing but, as said, let them print out their proposed plan so all can look at it rather than just throw out a proposal and keep everyone in the dark.

You all are way off and have no idea what you are talking about. The cost savings will take about 8 to 10 yrs. No Chief is going to give up their job. The officers are not going to give up their civil service status and senority time with each town. It would cost more at first, need Sgt.'s Lt.'s and what 2 assistant Chief's ? Outside details having nothing to do with what the article is about.

If it really can save money, I'm all for it. The lee Police seem to get paid quite well. Esp. with overtime.
My dad worked in the mill and made good money to Esp. overtime as a janitor.

Not having read the report, I can't say which way makes more sense but having lived in Stockbridge and Lee most of my life, I don't see the townspeople going for this. I could be wrong but....
Your right.

You could still save the 3 towns NEARLY 1/2 MILLION DOLLARS, by firing the USELESS TOWN MIS-MANAGERS, and letting the Selectman, earn their pay.

Hey, Greg, going to be in your office this week, or AWOL like usual???
