Another Antisemitic Attack in Odessa

(September 21, 2006)
A few days after an attack on Israeli soccer fans was reported in Odessa, Ukraine the Russian Jewish web site Jewish.ru reported on September 20, 2006 that a group of youths beat up a Jew in front of numerous witnesses in the city's downtown area. Chaim Veitsman was set upon during the evening of September 18 on a crowded street. A gang off youths, who witnesses say often hang out on that street, approached Mr. Veitsman. One screamed in his face, "I don't like kikes!" and started to attack him. "The hooligans were not afraid of any witnesses or that anybody would stand up for him [the victim]" the report's author wrote.

After the beating was over, Mr. Veitsman, who was covered in his own blood and was suffering from a busted lip and a concussion, had to call the police himself. The officers who responded reportedly were not very interested in investigating the attack. A witness came forward and named one of the attackers. Mr. Veitsman then went to the police station with the officers and waited 40 minutes before someone there took down his complaint.

Sources within the local Jewish community told Jewish.ru that the city's streets are becoming increasingly dangerous. People interviewed at the Migdal Jewish Cultural Center reported that over the past two years, five Jews affiliated with their organization have been attacked, and that police have not been able to solve even one of those cases.

UCSJ NOTE: A 2004 attack on two rabbis in Odessa was solved by police; it is not clear if that incident was included in the figures cited by the Jewish.ru report

Russian Jewish Congress Head Says Antisemitic Attacks Increasing

(September 21, 2006)
Vyacheslav Kantor, president of the Russian Jewish Congress, has stated that the number of antisemitic attacks in Russia is growing at a rate of 10% a year, according to a September 18, 2006 report by the Russian Jewish web site Jewish.ru. He added that he did not include incidents of antisemitic rhetoric by public figures in that statistic, but rather "concrete actions--attacks and fights."

Earlier this month, the Sova Information-Analytical Center released figures showing that the number of hate crimes in general (i.e. including antisemitic attacks) are increasing in Russia at an annual rate of 30%. It is not clear if the disparity is caused by greater hatred towards other minority groups than towards Jews, or the fact that Muslims (who have been the most frequent victims of hate crimes in recent years) greatly outnumber Jews in Russia.

Attacks on Three Protestant Churches Reported in Russia

(September 21, 2006)
Three Protestant churches have been attacked in recent weeks in different parts of Russia, according to reports by the Sova Information-Analytical Center.

On August 27, 2006 someone threw a gas bomb into the New Testament Pentecostal church in Perm, poisoning around 20 people and causing several hundred others to evacuate the building. No fatalities were reported. The church's pastor stated that the attack may be connected to his church's purchase of a House of Culture, which has been criticized in the local media. He added that in March 2006, a similar attack took place against an unregistered Pentecostal church in the city.

On August 31, Sova reported an earlier incident in Tatishchevo (Saratov region). On August 19, parishioners of the Pentecostal “Word of Life” church there discovered that someone had poured motor oil through a window into the church. The church's pastor blamed “direct agitation” against the Pentecostals by a local Russian Orthodox priest for the incident.

On September 6 and 12, the Blagovest church in Krymsk (Krasnodar Kray) was desecrated by vandals, who painted swastikas and pro-Orthodox slogans on its walls. Parishioners were cited in the report blaming a local schoolteacher's “anti-sectarian” lectures for the incident (the school is located near the church).

No arrests have been reported in connection with any of the abovementioned incidents.

Youths Charged With Beating Jew to Death Using Metal Cross

(September 20, 2006)
Five youths in the Sverdlovsk region have been charged with murder motivated by ethnic hatred for allegedly beating a Jewish man to death with a metal cross, according to a September 15, 2006 report by the local Novy Region news service. The previously unreported killing took place on October 1, 2005. Fifteen youths reportedly attacked a 21 year old Jew identified in the report as Andrey D. in a local cemetery. They beat him to the ground and then delivered the fatal blow with a metal cross they ripped from a tombstone. Five of the attackers were singled out by investigators as the main culprits; the remaining 10 were released. Four are charged with murder, while one young woman is charged with aiding and abetting (she allegedly did not take part in the beating, but pointed out the cross to the attackers).

HE'S NOT BACKING DOWN:

Pope Benedict said on Wednesday Christians could not allow their beliefs and identity to be diluted for the sake of dialogue with other religions.
"We have to remember that this identity of ours calls for strength, clarity, and courage in the world in which we live," he told pilgrims and tourists at his weekly general audience.
Since he made controversial comments on Islam a month ago, the question of how much dialogue Catholics should have with other religions has become a point of debate in the Church.
Some Catholics feel they have compromised too much of their Christian identity in the four decades since the 1962-1965 Second Vatican Council called for increased dialogue with Muslims, Jews and members of other religions.

The World has a Supply and Demand issue with World Religion and it is time that the human species break her addiction to foreign World Religions to head off the coming Global Heated Disaster of future conflicts, chaos and controversies leading to international terrorist attacks, genocide and World War Three.

We need a Kutoff Treaty to stop this insanity and all nations must sign it as soon as possible. Each nation must work to control and terminate its toxic religious condemnation of other cultures and religions and control its emissions of radical fundamentalist beliefs.

The World must break her addiction to World Religions so that the future of the human race can be realized. If we fail to fix this future catastrophe then we will have severe culture shifts and go off a culture cliff into WWIII. Every nation must participate in culling the coming crisis if mankind is to live together in peace.

Can humankind curb its abuse of their minds and break our addiction to World Religion and move into the future we all seek and participate in the forward progression of the species without blowing our selves up in a Global Meltdown? Please consider all this in 2006.

Most people who have observed the current situation in the world and the world war that some say has already started believe that much of the problems around the globe are caused from world religions. World religion has certainly been in the crosshairs for a while and yet human kind will not ditch their addiction to these ancient customs, literature and tales slightly modified for modern times.

Perhaps it would be good to eliminate all world religion and therefore leave the human species with less to fight over. When your children are fighting over a toy sometimes it is best to take the toy away because they are abusing that toy in using it to cause conflict. This is seems to wake them up rather quickly and it helps them get along. Can we do the same thing with World Religions?

Why does humankind need relation in the first place? Sure, in previous times religion was needed to keep civilizations together and societies a strong, as they all believed in a common theme. Perhaps it did make sense at one time, but in the present period it simply no longer makes sense. There are too many variations of world religion and they are fighting over semantics.

When world religion is used to incite violence, wars and ignite World War III then I would say it is time for world religion to take a timeout and perhaps be completely eliminated to prevent further conflict, international terrorism and nuclear war. The human species is addicted to religion and they need some help. Unfortunately they will not admit they need help and therefore, here we go again as we repeat history. Consider this in 2006.

It is amazing the amount of problems that are caused amongst family and friends over the discussion of religion? What do they say; never talk about religion or politics amongst mixed company? Indeed, and for those who have they know that it can rapidly decay a conversation into a shouting match faster that the World land speed record holder on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.

But why does this happen? Why are folks so caught up into these pre-indoctrinated fairy tales that they cannot see the forest for the trees? And why will each of these humans bet their life that they are right and fight to death for what they believe? Why are humans programmed in such a way? Who does it serve; certainly not the individual and definitely judging by all the current conflicts in the World not the whole of humanity.

So may I then ask since all religion does is cause conflict, chaos and controversies that often turn into shouting matches, hatred and wars; then why do we allow these religions to persist in our World?

World religions are not helping with the forward progression of the human species and the sooner we get rid of them, perhaps the better for all concerned. We need not fight over differences on belief based on ancient really just literature, which was created to enslave the masses. Please consider all this in 2006.

Lance,

All of this boils down to each individuals concept of Metaphysics.

Some are happy with the concept of pure Science and what they can see.

Others are deeply affected by the concept of the afterlife. They are not content with the "physical only".

Discussions of the Metaphysical are so often heated because many are repulsed by the idea that: "What we see is all there is"! They cannot live happily within this dynamic.

Peace
