George McGovern's wife under hospice care in Montana

Former U.S. Sen. George McGovern said Wednesday that his wife, Eleanor, was in critical condition at the couple's Montana home and was receiving hospice care.

34 years ago Sen. McGovern sent my grandson an 8x10 picture autographed, "To Jason from your birthday partner, George McGovern." Along with that he sent us a wonderful letter thanking us for supporting him in his bid for President. It was Sen. McGovern's 50th birthday, and it was one of only two letters I have ever penned to a national figure. We were touched by his response and saddened by his defeat. Our prayers are with Mrs. McGovern, Sen. McGovern, and their family.
