I wonder if this is the accident where someone got on the freeway going the wrong way? I heard on the radio that there was quite alot of heroism involved, people jumping out of their own cars to rescue those in the burning cars that had been involved in the accident.
I hope everyone is going to be all right.
check the sign before going on the freeway people... if it says wrong way... make note?

Police say that a driver was apparently going in the wrong direction on the highway and slammed head-on into another vehicle.
Police confirmed at least one fatality in the car that was heading the wrong way.
Traffic is closed in the westbound direction on I-94, with Red Arrow Highway being used as an alternate route. On the radio here, they were saying that people were calling 911 to report someone driving the wrong way. A chevy s-10 blazer (going wrong way) hit a dodge ram truck.

I was driving south on I-57 in Illinois a couple of years back, heading down south on a vacation. I was riding with my brother, and it was about 1:30am.

He asked me if I wanted to take a break and switch drivers. I said "I'll be alright for a while longer."

Not more than 3 minutes later, here comes a car going at least 90, heading right towards us...coming the wrong way. Flashing my brights didn't do any good. He even had shifted over to the southbound lanes by going thru a gap in those cement barriers they put up during road construction....after coming off a toll road of all things!

After almost p**sing myself, and yelling "Holy s_it", I slammed on my brakes to get back over into the right hand lane. I let a semi truck BARELY clear me, and got back into the right lane. My brother said he never saw the guy coming, and it would have been too late. I looked into my rear-view mirror, and watched a huge explosion, as this guy clobbered someone else!

About ten days later, on my way back home...same highway, about 50 miles south, met up with another guy doing the same thing. I saw him get on the interstate from the wrong way.

Glad I'm still here.

I wish people who are not medically trainined would not try to help they only make things worse. I am a medic so I know first hand.

You'd rather they burned to death in their cars? Some of my co-workers happened upon an accident once; a car full of kids had flipped over and was leaking gas. Two of them got the kids out while the other whined about how they should wait for medical professionals. Well, they got the family out, and just in time, because the fuckin' car EXPLODED. Your "advice" would have killed those people.

My usual one hour drive from Kalamazoo to New Buffalo took an extra 50 minutes. It took that 50 minutes to go 2 1/2 miles. Detoured three lanes to one at exit 23 ramp. Going over 94 on John Beers Road I looked east and accident looked real bad.
