If they wanted you to know their secrets, you would be a Mason.

You aren't nominated to become a Mason, you have to go to a Mason and ask to join. Money plays no part in whether you are accepted or not - character does.
Most people are very familiar with the charitable work the Shriners do. You must be a Mason first, to become a Shriner.

yes when u go to that one mason and tell him your interested he has to put your name in for the others to evaluate you. so yes you do have to be nominated, like I said just GOOGLE it. if you could go to one man and get in everyone would be in. but really who cares anyway?

Crazy me, I assumed someone cared since a thread was started about the Masons. LOL.
And Google is full of 1/2 truths, at best, regarding the Masons. Most people tend to fear what they don't know - like "secret societies".

first of all absolutely NONE of this is true..... but you DO have to be a Mason to become a Shriner. The Masons are a secret fraternity but they to have booklets that tell you pretty much all about what they do.... the only thing that is a secret is what they do during lodge (meetings), but one thing they will tell you about lodge is that they open and close in prayer. And you can go in a Masonic lodge, it is not closed to the public, so go take a look, as soon as you walk in there is a King James Version Bible sitting open. So be careful what you say, most men who are a part of the masonic lodge don't advertise it, you may know someone who is a mason!

You are correct, the men I attend Lodge with are some of the most God fearing men I know. Folks should check their family tree, chances are very good you have a Mason in it. You could possibly be bad mouthing some one very important in your life.

Say what you want...your opinion is nothing to them, it is not going to change these men. But never forget that the Shriners help many children and their families during tough times. But to help the people on here that are not ignorant a$$holes, pleaase keep your opinions to yourself. Nobody wants to read them.

I will give it to ya that Character is something that some of the "Masons" have...but Character is NOT what gets you accepted. The Shriners do a good thing, but the "Masons from the local region are a joke carrying around symbols on their bumpers.

The Masons may close and end in a prayer, but I will tell you this. Masonry still has my doubts about being "godly" because for one...Masonry is VERY secretive and closed lip and gives glory to Masonry instead of God (which is why so many people in the bible were killed or left "in the wilderness" for NOT giving God the credit). I know the rumor that Masonry was actually put together by King Solomon himself back during the time he was building the temple, Solomon also almost brought the kingdom of Israel to it's knees because of his worshiping false idols. SECOND the Masons have no relation to Jesus Christ and guess what....you could do a thousand deeds in life AND STILL GO TO HELL if you don't have Jesus in your hearts. Jesus was not a "secretive person". He was an open book, loving, forgiving (does that sound like a Mason? Not in this region. Third, everytime I have been in public and heard other people make remarks about Masons and someone always stands up and says "you better be careful of what you say about Masons", while this same person that defends the Masons sat down to use "GD" several times over the conversation. I have heard how "bad things happen" to those that speak against them and that is vengeance on their behalves. The bible says "Vengeance is mine says the Lord"...not the Masons. If God has secret organization of beings doing his work...they ain't human. What you said about "you better be careful of what you say" is a crazy. "Masons" need to be careful whom they threat! Jesus said "if ANYONE causes any of my little one to fall...it been best for him to have a large millstone tied around his neck and dropped off into the deepest depths"
heresay

Funnybone acts like he knows alot, but doesnt know anything, Freemasonry date back to time immemorial, To be a Mason you must first believe in God, and Jesus Christ is not left out of Masonry, The Bible that s sitting on the altar in Lodge's are King James Version Red Letter addition and the words that Jesus spoke and his name are still in it. When they pray the open and close and pray in Christs name, it is a fraternity and only things secret is handshakes and words, They do good deeds and yes that doesnt get you into Heaven alone but to help fellow man means alot. suppose Your children didnt have anything for Christmas and you didnt have food and it mysteriously showed up outside your door one day. would you still be bad mouthing Masons. Several Lodges have open meetings where you can go and find out what its really about. Faith, Hope, and Charity.
