Anyone know what is going on? We live in Countryside (just off of Algonkian Parkway) and have heard many, many sirens for over a half-hour now...sounds really serious. My husband saw ambulances turning onto McPherson Circle.?

McPherson Circle is blocked off by police. Many
police cars at scene. Could not detect any fire
when we went by.

went to friends house at 830, left not even 10 min later and whole sky was orange/black smoke. house is completely toast, more engines and firefighters then i've ever seen in my life. from what i heard, everyone got out and was ok, but that house is gone.

A total of three homes were ruined. The middle home is a complete loss and when I was there, the roof was completely gone and there wasn't much left of the walls. The two bordering homes had the vinyl siding melted off and walls burned. There were at least 6 if not more fire engines on the scene from Loudoun, Sterling, Ashburn and Fairfax. Numerous other emergency vehicles were on scene as well. The firefighters had three tall ladders extended from the trucks and were spraying what appears to be thousands of gallons of water straight down inside of the house (imagine a house w/ no roof).

To update my earlier ticket, the home behind the main house was also ruined.

That poor family. Do they have children? Does anyone know if they need anything?

I haven't heard anything on the family, if they were home, how it started, where to donate, etc. Can anyone else shed some light on this? I've already contacted WTOP News about it, but nothing so far.

I live nearby and I'm not positive but I believe it's the Parnis family (Jay, Dena, Nicole & Josh). The two kids are adults now - in their early 20's. I believe everyone is ok. Still can't find any news on this, however.

I'm pretty sure this is not the Parnis family. These folks moved in very recently and have two small children. The news article (above) is correct - they all got out.

The house was mine. We have two children age 6 & 7. Everyone made it our safe, but lost everything. The dmv was very good to us about getting new id's and friends are housing us.

Sherri, I think I can speak for the entire neighborhood - and beyond - when I say I am so terribly sorry for the enormous tragedy suffered by you and your family. Many of us would like to help in some way if we can. If you are comfortable posting your email address or contact information, that would allow us the opportunity to provide some assistance.

We as a community would like to help all the families but are not aware of how or where is there a centralized effort formed that neighbors can respond to?

In follow up to Mauxi's comment (above) regarding Countryside Elementary accepting donations, I contacted the school directly. Charmaine Phillips is a guidance counselor there and she is the contact person for this. Anyone who wishes to help this family should contact her via email at: charmaine.phillips@loudoun.k12 .va.us

Sherri:
We live on Darian, which is right behind your house, we are so sorry I tried to find you on Sunday but there were so many people. If we can help you in anyway please let us know. Our prayers are with you and your family.
