"A two-year-old church property dispute between Episcopalians and Anglicans ..."

I wonder if the writer actually understands that Episcopalians and Anglicans are part of the same Communion?

There was a time not long ago when that distinction wasn't even an issue, but you may be too young to remember that.

I'm referring to the Communion, not legalism, but that's all that's left of TEC today.

I wish you'd make up your mind Joe, on one hand you claim legalism from Scripture and in the next you throw it out the door.

I've tried discussing with you but you flip like a fish out of water, unable to focus.

Leave TEC, if you feel called, join another church, start your own, whatever.

I hope whatever you do, you live as Jesus taught...

Fair enough, but the legalism I was refering to was all the Schori-inspired TEC lawsuits; that kind of pettiness was never a part of the Anglican Communion.

Joe,

You are full of baloney, here!

These TEC lawsuits, whether filed locally and suported nationally or filed on behalf of TEC under the direction of bp. Jefferts-Schori are simply a defense and preservation of the Church's assets.

Why should TEC stand still and allow the departing congregations and dioceses unbolt and carry off the pews and stained glass windows, eviscerating the church's physical presence and then continue by emptying the bank accounts in order to pay for their tickets to journey elsewhere?

Or why should TEC allow any Diocese to be claimed by a group led by one who is leading that group AWAY from TEC?

TEC, being its hierarchy and its laity together, has chosen to adopt new and controversial views regarding the broad spectrum of the expression of human sexuality. But, these new TEC views are specifically inclusive toward a very small minority of human beings that have historically been and are now persecuted, segregated and discriminated against. Their persecution has been based upon old ideas whose validity is now called into question as a result of truth revealed.

The Lord said, "Know the truth and the truth shall set you free." TEC is following the teachings of Christ Jesus.

TEC should have read Paul's admonition against suing fellow Christians; we both know the Presbyterians did as to date they are undergoing a peaceful separation w/o all legal appeals like those made by TEC, esp. in Virginia.

Possesion is 9/10ths of the law, and you can't steal your own property.

But now that's become a matter for the courts to decide.

Possession, as in some of these departing congregations actually hold the title deed to the building.

That may not matter in CA, but TX is another story; and that's what I post.

I think that I recall that the texans learned this tactic under the guidance of Sam Houston.

To paraphrase Ronald Reagan; I didn't leave TEC; TEC left me.

“Morality is not hate. Judeo-Christian beliefs are not bigotry.”

Xenophobe? "You can't be serious?"(John McEnroe)

But persecuting homosexuals is immoral and anti-christian. TEC is just trying to minister to the legitimate pastoral needs of a portion of our society. That's her job: evangelism.

Actually, as you well know, it was the secessionists who started the legal case. They filed first with a motion that, if not met in court by TEC would have been tantamount to "surrender your goods and no one gets hurt." That's the tactic of a highway robber. The tactic is appropriate since that is what those people are.
