Holden town manager says police chief will be internal hire
Town Manager Jacquelyn Kelly's plans for hiring a new police chief have drawn the ire of a selectman and other community members.

Ms. Kelly should be fired. She is going against a unanimous vote by the Civil Service Committee. The Civil Service Study Committee recommended that Holden should have access to the most qualified candidate pool possible, and that would be done by opening the search to candidates throughout the state. The committee also suggested that the leadership in town take a collaborative approach that would provide an opportunity for the selectboard and other stakeholders to come together to deliberate what would best meet the town's needs.
