it is unfortunate that this made the front page of the paper. it is humiliating and sad that our town finds this to be news worthy. what astounds me is the predjudice of this paper. when zack schmittling, engineer for sterling fire department, was arrested for domestic violence and then was also charged with resisting arrest and assault on a peace officer, he barely made the crime page. zack schmittling also did not receive any kind of suspension or penalty from his employer, the city of sterling. i hope heather is treated just as fairly by the city as he was. if not i am sure she will have grounds for a discrimination law suit in light of the bias against her due to her gender.

You don't sound unbiased. Discipline is confidential so only Zack and his boss would know what action was taken.

Good God Almighty unbiased! An elected official gets arrested for domestic violence and you say she should sue if anybody does anything about it?

Maybe she shouldn't get arrested, then she wouldn't have to sue anybody.

Maybe we don't know the whole story! Seemed like the article was really biased against her and splashed on the front like a tabloid!!! Remember "innicent until proven guilty". Seemed like she has been tried and convicted already. And by the way...I don't know her personally.....

So... the press should ignore everything until there's a conviction??
What press ANYWHERE does that? Their job is to report the news, and when an elected official gets arrested, It's News!

Again, if you don't want negative press on the front page then don't get arrested.

Biased my butt!! If you don't want to end up on the front page of the paper, don't get arrested! Common sense people. And the other party was not arrested because the other party did nothing to provoke the assault, and nothing in retaliation either. I've got two words for you--anger management.

It is time more people knew the true person that this woman is!! Speaking from experience this woman is getting exactly what she deserves all power to those that threw her behind bars where she belongs. What goes around comes around.

Unbiased you are obviously know Heather and if so you know what a shallow, self serving, phony ass person she is. She has made a career out of treating people like crap to include hitting them. This is not her first offense just first time she got caught. She should step down cause she is definately not the kind of council person this town needs. She is a discrace.

If the other person didn't get arrested its probably cause they weren't the one initiating the violence. I think if I were her I'd resign though.

PS. She is a B****. I went to get fitted for a tux there and she acted like I was a huge inconvienance in her busy day.

These words are spoken well. I too had a very bad experience with her! Will never step foot into her store again. I am sure that this is just the tip of the ICE BERG. Feel so sorry for the other person that was involved. What goes around comes around. She should resign!!

Shame on the JA for running such a big article, and picture of Heather Diaz concerning her arrest. Any other citizen arrested for a similar offense would only be listed in the Public Records section of your newspaper!

Its unforrtunate that her real names wast used instead ofher beloved estranged husband. Heather Delgado is a self center, self obsorbed individual. As her late husband needed her the most, she abondened him. Which is a form of abuse. I don't know her but what she has demonstrated as an individual is a poor example of humane kind. May she get what she deserves.....

Only in River City....would people grab every opportunity to destroy another person. What a sick disgusting town. What happened to Sterling where people were safe and everyone cared about their neighbor. Now in all areas of leadership we have people that breed a culture of distrust, dishonety, and hostility. The police chief, a joke, the city council hilarious, the school district superintendent an idiot, and a newspaper that is never accurate and nothing but destructive.......No wonder the good people can't get fast enough and evil stay. Poor Heather....hold your head up and don't let these peole destroy you.

How come we get this picture and not the one when they booked her in? LMAO! This is just an example of what DOES happen in Sterling, Colorado. Women are perpetrators of domestic violence just as much as men are. If the man involved were believed to have been a perpetrator as well, he too would have been arrested. However, he was not arrested for a reason. SPD does an excellent job handling these cases and Ms. Delgado was treated fairly. Nothing is fair when it comes to the news and the media. We don't always get to choose when our picture lands in the paper now do we?

I wish I could feel sorry for her but being a victim of domestic violence myself, people get what they deserve. I also believe in karma, so if you're strong enough to come on here and judge and talk smack, be prepared yourself. Have a GREAT day!
