Any truth to this rumor? It has been popping up lately.. Wegmans is a great store. I hope it is true.

Ha, haa, that will never happen. People in Winchester don't make enough money to afford to shop at Wegmans.

I was thinking the same thing, no way because the household income wouldn't support it, they have cheap groceries, but the deli and everything else can be pricey.

Um...I've been hearing rumors that they purchased the parcel of land across the street from the Lowes off of Route 11. This could be possible. They don't have to do the hot bar until another time. It doesn't have to start right away. All Wegman's stores are not the same. I'm sure of it.

That may actually be true because that snowmen bridge community is suppose to be an insanely big project that comes with retail and recreational areas. I was very close to purchasing a home there and was given a map layout of where things would be. The land across from the lowes and target was a huge retail map. I can totally see a wegmans doing well here. There is a very large population that commutes to do for work and a lot more making a move out our way since the loudon metro is in processes. Just hope it doesn't turn into a huge cluster fuck like nova. Pardon my French, I lived in move for 25 years and moved out this way for that very reason. I feel like i have mild anxiety attacks having to drive to a wegmans with all the overcrowded parking lots in leesburg and Gainesville.

There is a Harris teeter in Purcellville, its awesome. Fresh boneless chicken is always $1.99 a pound with MVP card. They also have the freshest fish around these parts!

I love wegmans food to go buffet, very clean and reasonable.
As for it being cheaper than food lion or Martins, NO WAY!
Harris Teeter has better bargains, I shop their sales and save a lot of money.

I suppose if you only buy name brand stuff, than yes, Wegmans would be about the same as Food Lion and Martins, however, Wegmans brand cereal is $1.99 a box, bulk induvidually wrapped, boneless skinless chicken is $1.99/lb, milk is $2.79/gal.

I've had a hard time getting milk for less than $4 at walmart - and that milk is terrible.

I have been a shopper of Wegmans for the better part of 10 years, they won me over with their prices.

Yes, wegmans is far superior to any grocery stores in this area, and the prices are better.

I was at Wegmans (Leesburg) yesterday, chicken breast was previously frozen for $1.99, not fresh! Milk was NOT $2.79 for a gallon, 1% was $2.99 and 2% was $3.09.

Where has there been a Wegmans in this area open for 10 years? This thread is from Winchester VA..

Wegman's is cheaper than Martin's for organic food and Food Lion does not have organics. I would shop at Wegman's exclusively if they moved to Winchester and save $ doing it. As it is, I make the trek to Leesburg and stock up monthly, but that means regular visits to Martin's to fill in - and pay more.

Wegman's also has a better selection of organics.

People make plenty of money to afford Wegmans. Wegmans is all over the North in PA and NY. If places like Wilkes-Barre and Erie PA can have a Wegman why can't WinchesterVA. Get a clue before writing an opinion.

Well Food Lion is getting too high for me! And their produce and meats are terrible! I would much rather shop at Wegman's and get a better product since they are probably the same price.

Not true--we ditched Walmart in favor of Wegmans four years ago, and our shopping bills are comparable. You just have to know how to do it, and avoid the cheese and specialty vegan stuff. Folks in Winchester could totally afford Wegmans.

What a silly statement. I live in Winchester and I can afford (and do) shop at Wegmans. You should get to know Winchester before making statements like this.

I thought the same thing until we moved here 6 year ago. It's actually kinda cool....you never know who's loaded out here...it's just not flaunted. Wegmans would probably do very well out here in the sticks...lol!
