LOL. I was a tanker in the Corps. I was at Knox as a student in 85, and then three years as an instructor a little later on in 91-94. Matter of fact, my wife is an Army brat from E-town. Enjoyed your comments. Never seemed to work out that way in real life, though, that I saw. As to your comment about First Sergeants, the ones that didn't like us generally fell into the 10% club, so I'll take that comment with a grain of salt as well.
Ha,my first sgt.was a six foot eight inch maniac from Louisiana.I was at Knox in the winter of 1975. M-60 tanks....spent all damn day cleaning the monsters...not much compared to an Abrams I guess....

Apparently the text of Gate's remarks have yet to be fully disclosed. The speculation so far is that Gates mixes strong praise of the president with some criticism of Obama's attitude regarding the Afghanistan surge. Considering that we are still at war in Afghanistan and considering that Obama is commander in chief of our military, I have to wonder about what Gates is trying to accomplish by undermining his superior officer. The idea that our mission in Afghanistan ended with the death of Osama Bin Laden and the crippling of Taliban is not realistic when you consider that Afghanistan produces 90% of the world's opium, has vast gas reserves as well as oil , copper, gold, lithium and other minerals essential to continued manufacturing of any industrialized nation like the USA. I never bought the line that we attacked Afghanistan and Iraq because Saudis did 911. That would be like attacking Puerto Rico to get even with the Japs for Pearl Harbor. Always follow the money to find out what is really happening.

I'm a little shorter than that, but I did have recruits that thought I was pure evil when I was a hat! I started on the M60A1. It was a maintenance intensive beast, but I loved it. The Abrams is just awesome. I liked it so much I now work for GDLS in Detroit.

Rules of engagement in Afghanistan and Iraq....are asinine...almost insane...costing LIVES of our young people...Gates said Obama detested the military...trusted none....began forcing out the best and brightest...as a political litmus test of their loyalty....

If I recall the M-60 needed six hours of maintenance for every hour of use...my uncle was in a Sherman...said it took five Shermans to take on a Panzer...his Sherman took a hit from the high velocity gun on a Panzer...lost his right arm...only survivor....never did understand why the Shermans had that 75mm low velocity short-barreled gun...German pow tanker said the Shermans with their gas engines went off like Roman candles..

True. And who owns the politicians? That would be the arms manufacturers, the logistics contractors and service contractors.

And that is exactly why we need to reinstate the draft which would include congressmen and their children. It is easy to be a chicken hawk and SEND others to fight. Its up close and personal with you own ass on the line. There would certainly be less tendency to start trouble when the politicians and their families had to participate..

How about those low down, selfish, POS republican legislators cutting books for school children out of the state budget and buying themselves over $2,000,000 worth of new furniture with the children's money?$500 new chairs,$2200 dollar new desks,$2,000,000 in all, of our tax money spent when there was nothing wrong with the existing furniture. When the rest of the state faces hardship, these turkeys have to have new furniture?

How bout the president and entourage taking a 100 MILLION dollar African vacation during the sequester? That could buy a lot of chairs. How bout 500 MILLION Govt loss in solar Co. Solyndra. That could buy some furniture. Just saying. Better yet how come no Federal budget until this year - none for 5 years. How bout 600 MILLION dollars to a CANADIAN co for the abortion called OBama care. Lots of fine furniture there for all of us.

Chump change in comparison to the $6 Trillion Iraqi and Afghansistan wars that Bush got us into. Here is a quick lesson for you. A billion is a thousand million, and a trillion is a thousand billion. Understand?

Current Potus approval lower than Prez Bush and Prez Nixon. Current debt is roughly 17 trillion minus your 6 for the wars leaves 11 trillion (that is a lot of thousand billions). There still is no budget, this is going on for 5 years - there has been a lot of your chump change unknowingly and unaccounted for the past 5 years and he is only thru 5 of 8 years - Understand?

NO,he does not understand. Impossible for this democrat cheerleader to believe anything negative regarding democrats. He will simply find something negative about a republican and post it,even if he has to go back to the Revolutionary War. This is a team sport,to State.Rah rah,go team go.

Right now it appears that Christie would be the republikans only chance of winning. Good point. After subtracting 6 trillion for the Dubya wars, that leaves 11 trillion. Now subtract the 10 trillion debt owed by January 2009. That leaves 1 trillion. So the Obama administration government has been run most efficiently for the last 5 years taking on only 200 billion in debt per year compared to the 800 trillion per year during the Bush administration? NOT HARDLY. The debt has been racked up by CONGRESS, not either president.

It is the responsibility of CONGRESS to pass a budget. The president submits a budget PROPOSAL to CONGRESS, which then has the responsibility to pass, modify or make their own budget. Congress is owned by the wealthy and big corporate. Congress does what the wealthy and big corporate tell them . Congress robs the US treasury for the benefit of the wealthy and big corporate. The public is too lazy or stupid or both, to learn how their own government works. So congressmen of both parties point fingers and blame at the president and each other while they steal us blind.
