Characters to take flight in Bloom Trail's 'Peter Pan'

April 2, 2009

Bloom Trail High School will stage four performances of "Peter Pan" in the school's Neubauer Auditorium at Sauk Trail and Cottage Grove Avenue in Steger. The curtain will rise for evening performances at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A matinee show will be at 2 p.m. Saturday.

"The play tells the story of Peter Pan, the boy who wouldn't grow up," said Matthew Kunkel, Bloom Trail faculty director. "Peter Pan takes the Darling children, Wendy, John and Michael, on a flying adventure to Neverland, where they encounter pirates and Indians."

The students will literally fly during the performance, Kunkel said.

"In our performances, Peter and the Darling children will really be flying thanks to the ZFX Flying Company," he said.

Main cast members, and the characters they play, are: Ieva Misiunates as Peter Pan; Heather Swanson as Wendy; Miguel Morales as John; first-grader Delaney Kunkel as Michael; Eric Lee as Captain Hook; Trevor Careon as Smee; Amanda Foresta as Mrs. Darling; Sonia Rusell, Dominique Barnes, Amy Edwards and Dominique Roberts as the Lost Boys; first-grader Hannah Kunkel as Jane.

The production includes a cast of 40 students and 20 stage crew members. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens; free for children 4 and younger. Tickets will be available at the box office one hour before the production.

Play fairy godmother to girls needing prom dresses
By Barb Dorman
Times Columnist | Friday, April 03, 2009

My friend Kristin organized a boutique calledLa Piste Extraordinaire in February at Bloom Trail High School. This bouttique gives away free prom dresses to Bloom students who otherwise could not afford one. She needs donations of gently used formal dresses of all sizes. The bust line should be covered and any slit ends should be at fingertip length, according to school dress code. They do not accept stained or dresses not in accordance to the dress code. At this time, they are in particular need of smaller sizes (2, 3, 4) and plus sizes (18, 20, 22). For more information, e-mail Kristin at kristintram@yahoo.com.

Tuesday 4-7-09: Election Day

The most important day in 4 years. Local elections effect you, your family and your home more than state and federal elections. The local office holders determine your tax rates, what you can and can't do to your home, local ordinances, your water, what you can have in your yard, and just about everything to do with life in your area.

Make sure you use your right to have a say in your town, school, library, township and all others on Tuesday, vote and ask your friends and neighbors to also vote

Can you give a general area? Like 3200 block of wallace or something like that? It will give the people in that area, a better idea to keep a look out for it.
