That is not true...I shop here, eat here, work here....I care about my town and my home and my children's safety. I won't be able to shop, eat, or work here if the crime continues to rise though. There is only so much the neighborhood watch can do. Instead of the town worrying about charging people who are trying to sell their homes to get out of this town a $75 sign permit fee, maybe they should be putting their efforts into catching the scumbags who have polluted our population in what used to be the safe community of Steger.<quoted text>
people in steger stopped caring they stopped eating in town stopped shopping in town stopped going to things and when people dont care crap happens

Steger charges $75.00 for a FOR SALE sign permit, how much did they charge the politicians this past election with signs all over town? What are we going to get charged for next, picnic tables and grills in our yards? I won't be paying a sign fee when I get rid of this house, the bank can have it back let them try to sell it.

I heard a rumor that this may be repealed at the next meeting

Terrell was also raided and the police found a gun in his possession. He's on probation and a felon. How was his bond low enough to bond out? Hmmmm

Not certain what you are saying, a $75.00 charge for a sign to sell your house? How do you know this?

That's appalling and does an individual need one or is it just for realty agencies. Wanted to sell a piece of exercise equipment and was just going to put it out in the yard with a for sale sign on it one of these days but suppose I'll have to have a garage sale permit for it.. Thanks papadoc. Hadn't noticed that on the village website before.

Yea what about all the political signs?? Do they have to pay?
#9168 Mar 30, 2012
Thanks for posting the link. That's good news.
#9169 Mar 31, 2012
Yeah, good news for people who opposed it because of the NIMBY aspect. But IMO, not good news for people who opposed it because they had concerns about the whole detention issue. Does anyone really think that Illinois does an incredible job with its prisons and detention centers? Yeah, let's take away any competition that could force Illinois to do a better job. You're stupid if you don't realize that Illinois politicians are jumping up and down laughing, thinking "yeah, we just prevented anyone else from doing this, we get to keep the jobs for our cronies and keep the money." How could that be good? You all must respect Illinois government more than I do....

you do have a good point!

I don't respect our socialist enabling government in Illinois. I also don't want it in my back yard. With something like prisons I don't believe that bringing in a private entity is the way to solve prison problems. The system needs to be reformed.
Did you know that Cook County has the largest criminal justice system in the world?

Community wide garage sale in the garage,
Doesn't the Village have a garage sale weekend in the summer whereas a lot of people in the community have a garage sale at their house over a weekend? Is the community wide garage sale in replace of this?
