Okay, let's face facts. Lots of people complain about Mayor Sherman and others.

HOWEVER, maybe we need to get some people VOTING. In the last village election, less than 11% of the village voted - LESS THAN 11%.

In the Mayoral election prior to that, I believe the numbers were in the 20% range.

So, until people VOTE, the complaining really doesn't mean much.

Sorry to start my first post on such a negative topic - but I'm very sincere - people need to VOTE if they want change.

Incumbents (Sherman, or any mayor of any town) always get their core voters to the polls. The trick is to get the other people to the polls - and that just doesn't happen in Steger.

I worked outside a polling place last election, and the Action Party drove over 75% of the people to that location. That means they got 75% of the vote - minimum - from that location.

So, next election, if you want change - you need to VOTE.

Maybe I'm preaching to the choir, and I probably am - because if you care enough to be on this posting board you probably do already vote. So, pass the word, get others voting!

By the way - the city under your name is where your ISP is located (if that wasn't already answered).

Obituary - Visitation Notice.

Not Steger - but I do know there are several racers and racefans in Steger who might have attended Illiana Motor Speedway, who might have known "DJ" Wilson (driver of the #57 Turbo Stox)

=====

Donald Wilson Jr., 19, of Beecher, died Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2008) in Kankakee from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Sunday until the 4 p.m. services at the Hack Funeral Home in Beecher. The Rev. Tom Ewing will officiate.

Mr. Wilson was a food server at a pizza place. He was born Oct. 26, 1988, in Harvey, the son of Donald Sr. and Kathy LaMantia Wilson. He was a 2007 graduate of Beecher High School, where he was very involved with the school band. He raced at the Illiana track.

Heather J. Wilson, 22, of Beecher, died Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2008) in Kankakee, from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Sunday until the 4 p.m. funeral service at Hack Funeral Home in Beecher. The Rev. Tom Ewing will officiate.

Miss Wilson was born June 3, 1985, in Hazel Crest, the daughter of Donald Sr. and Kathy LaMantia Wilson. She was a 2004 graduate of Beecher High School.

That's unfortunate about your neighbor. Let me guess, it's an elderly person with nothing else better to do. I think all towns have people like that. In Park Forest they have a liason who tries to get the two parties to agree before the fines or whatever start happening.

They had at least 4 different "drivers" that I am aware of. They had Action Party signs on their windows and on top of the car (like a driver's ed car).

They drove people right up to the front door (within 5 feet of the door)- walked them in - walked out with them and left. They even left the vehicle sitting in front of the door the entire time.

I witnessed this at 2 polling places (I only worked at 2 of them)

Does anyone know that the village trustees amended an ordinace requiring trucks, Rv's, etc. They no longer can be parked on someone's lot, wbether it is behind the house or wherever. As of yesterday, they are suppose to be ticketing people. I thought the citizens had to be informed of this before they get a ticket. This change in the ordinace was told to my niece by Sgt. Rossi. Has anyone else heard about this?
I have not heard of this. The majority of our town have trucks,rv's,trailers on there property. When I first moved here I would tell my friends from bordering towns how if I want I can just drive my car on to the lawn & wash & wax it with no problem. Like anything goes. I still do that. Maybe if an ordinance has passed it's for old junkers . That would be a good thing.

I believe that this forum can be a great thing. As long as it is used the right way. And to those folks that want to complain, thats fine. But, what have you done for your community lately? People love to complain whats not being done, but how many get involved to make it better?
