County Line Pet Hospital is in need of plastic bags, (like Jewel, Kmart, etc...). It's also a good way to recycle and be 'GREEN'. If you have the time, just drop them off. They are located at 3312 Chicago Road.

Just a reminder to the residents...please keep watch in your neighborhood and report any suspicious activities. Also, report any suspicious activities going on in the parks. I took my granddaughter to one of the parks today and asked some boys (10 yrs - 14 yrs old) that were swinging from the rafters of the pavilion to stop. I told them it was not a safe thing to do. One of them began to use foul language and I pulled my cell phone out. They thought I was going to call the police and they all began to apologize including the "foul mouth." Let's keep our village safe by staying involved!!!

even if you do report any suspicios activity steger cops wont do anything, they are more concerned about where there next doughnut is comming from than protecting the citizens of this town.

Comments?
Is'nt that what the pavillion is supposed to be used for? Money could be used for something we need not something we already have.

The cops had been looking for an escaped prisoner. Subject escaped from a Beecher Police car. State police saw the subject laying in a ditch and began the next chase, he lost the guy again until the copter made it to the area with heat sensing gear to find the guy hiding.

Cops not looking for a stolen motorcycle.

Why are members of the department showing up less and less. Could it be our "Chief"?
We have had to call assistance from South Chicago Heights FD to come and help treat the residents of Steger. But why can we not get our own members to show up? We must have two members on an ambulance when it responds. If we do not have proper staffing we must call another town to help.
But Mayor Sherman says money is not there to place a second on duty person in the station.
All money seems to go to POLICE AND PUBLIC WORKS.
Every town around us has more then one person on duty to respond to your emergency. We need a good store to help bring in taxes. Fireman are loosing interest in the fire department and how it is being run currently. Residents need to speak out and help up and themselves.

Don't forget that your Steger Firefighters and EMS are paid on call. Don't really know what the average pay per call is but I'm thinking about $10.00 to $12.00. That's per call, wether it last for 15 minutes or 15 hours.
We do have one paid paramedic on duty 24/7, but they cannot run with less than 2. Steger residents get a pretty good deal. They spend a lot of time away from family for our residents. Tell the next one you see, Thanks.
