It seems a legitimate question to ask is whether these officers were paid (with $ or comp time) for this or if they each did this on their own time.

No doubt this is a wonderful cause but in these times we need to know how much of our tax dollars are actually being spent to protect us and how for other causes.

in most localities police officers receive a salary that is below the cost of living and do many things for the community that are not their primary job.
ex: only 9 of albemarle's police officers can afford to live in the county and they were out helping with the special olympics.
im sure some of these posters would love to see privatized police departments run for profit where the officers have no union and are paid minimum wage and get twenty hours a week.

Now this is something I will applaud the officers for. And I don't mind if they were "on the clock" while they did it, either. It's a great cause. If tax-payer dollars were involved, I consider it a donation to a very worthy cause.

[okay, NOW the funny]: plus, while they were busy with this, we could SPEED everywhere else !!:D

Of course they were not getting paid. They either donated their own money or got sponsorship donations, as well donated their time for this cause. That's just plain ignorance to say that.
