Are you saying that you and society should be under constant supervision by professionals? It's difficult to discern what you mean, since there isn't any punctuation after, "function correctly".????????
I think she meant "in society and therefore". Wasn't that hard to figure out if you just put a little thought into it.

I think it is extremely sad and hard for the people in this family to have to relive this situation year after year. It's not something that is easy to get through, especially with the holidays, but seeing it on TV and in news papers every year doesn't make it any easier. It is very disrespectful of the editors to make them relive this every year and this man doesn't deserve any attention at all.

Just so every one here knows, Virginia is ranked 46th in the country in its commitment to helping people with mental health problems. 46th. And with the budget cuts we're looking at the stone age. That plus the general assembly is seriously considering for profit take over of local community service boards. This idea was tried and failed in many other states but again here we talk politics. There are in fact for profit lobbyist in Richmond buying votes for a for profit system. Watch your backs, your politicians are out to put you in harms way.

If he is given any freedom he WILL kill again. I have had dealings with this family and they are all a little messed up. They all feel they are above the law and continue to do as they please. They have zero respect for law enforcement and it will not end well when he goes haywire again.

Of course you MUST be mentally ill (in some fashion) to murder another human. Does that mean that we should just slap a person on the wrist and feel bad for them when they commit these acts? Does anyone disagree that Jack the Ripper, Jeffery Dahmer, or Ted Bundy were insane? Has anyone considered the pain that the folks this monster shot felt as thier lives slipped away? It is my firm belief that when a "Judge" allows someone like this back into society said "Judge" should be held personally responsible if the offender commits another crime! This trend towards political-correctness and compassion has destroyed many lives and is eating away at this country like a cancer.
I used to live in the area, and as I recall this guy killed his own brother and his teenage nephew in an argument over a dog.
Yes,he's crazy as a junebug.I believe it is possible to be so sick as to be not responsible for your actions.I also believe that if this guy is now ok enough to leave the hospital he's also ok enough to stand trial for the double murder.I think it's a big mistake to let him out under any circumstances. If he'd kill his own BROTHER and NEPHEW over a dog, would you trust him?
I think,if he were found guilty,he should be commited to a mental institution for the rest of his life.

This is a new ruling after a review by the judge in this murder case and should be reported, just as in any other case.

Thanks for the help anonymous. That is what I meant.

Bengalandi, I had no idea that you were the posting grammar police. Thank you for having nothing else better to do then critique people's grammar and spelling in their posts. Maybe you should put that in your title instead of a picture of a beautiful Bengal cat. By the way, what generation is your Bengal? I have an F3.

Can you guarantee that the ones who understand their problem will take their meds thru their lives without missing any because they feel better? We had a woman living with us who was bipolar and she would regular go off her meds because she liked the attention it got her. When she disappeared one night and no one went looking for her, she decided she wasn't geting enough attention at our house and moved into the salvation army where she had people who wouldn't take her going off her meds. The point is that they who have severe mental issues can't be trusted to function correctly i society and therefor for the greater good should be under constant supervision by professionals.
You can not pool everybody into the same pot just because they have the same problems. Not "everybody " goes off their meds when they feel better so don't come down on all. Take you for example you could be grouped into the idiot group for even thinking everyone just goes off meds for the fun of it. Just because of the experiance you had with this lady doesn't make you a expert on the subject. People who take their meds, see their docs and go to groups can function correctly in society. If these people stay with their treatment plan then they can do OK. Some people do not want to help themselves and won't take care of their problems but it is NOT EVERYBODY GET THAT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULL!!

My my Sturmgeist, aren't we a little touchy. Until there is some sort of guarantee that anyone who has a severe mental problem will stay on their medication and not become a menace to society, then I will change my opinion. The chances of that happening are about the same as a freeze warning in hell. You have a right to think what you think and I have the right to think what I think. GET THAT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULL!!!!!!!!!!

luvmy3-Is your family familiar with crisis intervention. This is not work that most social workers are trained to deal with, especially if they are afraid to enter a home. An assessment can be made whether the person is in a phychosis even though they have not harmed anyone. The person is asked to go to an institution voluntarily, if they refuse, the police are then called, the person is handcuffed for their safety and LE that escorts them. It only takes the closest family member to have them committed. They are usually kept for several weeks until they are stabilized.
Im sorry but that is not always true the police are called they then make an assessment an if they dont seem to be dangerous the police call community service board the social worker then comes and makes an assessment. Her husband, children and grandchildren have made calls to the police the community services board the husband has even dropped her off at the er and they send her home she has got to be way out of it and showing that she is a danger to herself and or others.when a person goes into psychosis the arent always out to hurt someone they believe everyone else is out to get them they say and do things that make no sense to us so us the family no when it starts but the authorites have to c it before they can legally force thenm in the hospital

my occupation is in mental health and a person with a mental illness can do all the right things take their meds go to groups etc and still have a break it can be as simple as the meds stopped working and it can happen for no reason at all the norm is that people who have paranoid schizphrenia are typically diagnosed in their late teens early twentys my relative was in her fifties.in mental health nothing is ever black and white its just not you or I could have a mental break down at anytime for absolutely no reason.when a person has a mental health problem you cant just put a band aid on it and it goes away and a presription doesnt always work

Liz, I agree with you. Sturmgeist: Anyone that has mental problems has a chemical inbalance. Therefore causing their emotions to be out of whack. Even while sleeping the inbalance inside him will be trying to balance out. When he wakes, more than likely he will be confused. The brain will send violent signals 90% of the time when it can't balance itself out. He will be totally unaware of what's going on inside him,and outside. This is nothing but dynamite ready to be lit with the entire family.

This just makes my first point in that anyone who has a mental health condition that has more then an average chance of making them dangerous to others should be under constant supervision. A mental break won't always happen those who take their meds, but I am sorry in that I won't take that chance and I would vote to have them locked up every time.

Just my opinion and just like assholes, everybody has one.

<quoted text> In one sense I agree with you in that the family has suffered quite abit, also on the issue of the judge. They don't make the laws, they only apply it. On the other hand, Mark should not be released. I've known this family my entire life. He has always had a violent and sick streak. As in "sick" he has a thing for little girls. By now they gotta know this. The article stated he could be out for years at a time. We all know he won't be monitored. That would cost more than being in an institution. I would like to add that Mike and Becky were the cream of the crop in that family. They both are dead.
Not that I am siding with Mark, but YOU are a liar lady.. Mark was
almost always in the company of an older woman.. he even dated women
in there 40's when he was in his late 20's or early 30"s.
He never had a thing for little girls. You have no idea
what you are speaking about. Comments like these put fear in people,
and cause harrasment toward other family members who had nothing to do with the
murder. You and the news reporter and channel 29 should be sued in a court
of law for causing grief and issues that a hurting family shouldnt have
to deal with. You all had better PRAY that no one makes any remarks to
my family about what you said. Better pray HARD,this has really gotten out
of hand. SHAME ON CHANNEL 29 for publishing GARBAGE like this. You are
a disgrace.. and have destroyed many innocent lives with your crap
reporting and slezzy comments every year and are by far way worse than what Mark did..
he has mental problems... whats your excuse?

Well are you just doing exactly what everyone is talking about the family "NUTS" I don't care who he dated. I personally have seen him standing behind corner of Waynesboro High School building from 2:30 PM to ? watching those little girls. I don't mean standing on the street in the open. I mean peeping from behind the corner of buildings. On another note... You call stating an opinion differing from yours is worse than killing your brother and his son. I state my opinion again. Mark is NUTSO and he should be kept locked up. Just like my earlier statement this whole situation is a time bomb with the entire family. You are lighting the fuse by issuing threats. This community will not be bullied by this family. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
